Chromeheadman

I enjoy the passion of riding and enjoy being around my motorcycle friends. I've been riding off an on for over 53 years. I've enjoyed ever bike I've owned. Love my airhead - 1978 R100S. It was my dream bike growing up. I've enjoyed riding the airhead from the start and still enjoy riding it. It always puts a smile on my face when I ride it.
My 2001 R1200C Phoenix is my second R1200C. My first one (1998) was rear ended at a traffic light and only had 81,000 miles on it.
The Phoenix has been to the lower 48 states and many Canadian Providences and has ~ 200,000 miles on it. Its a good road bike and can cut the curves very well. I've run every manufacturer's tire made for the bike.
I just traded in my 1998 R1100RT with about 125,000 on it for the R18 in September, as I needed the space in my garage. So far I've been on 2 overnight trips. The first trip was slightly less than 900 miles round trip on backroads. The second trip was 900+ miles each way with about 2/3 was on Interstates. Saddlebags were the first items ordered and they work. Crash guards, and valve cover emblems are still on order. Touring seat and cast wheels have been ordered as well. The cast front wheel has arrived. OEM tires - Michelin Commander III. Cast wheels will get Bridgestone.
The R18's power is seductive and it hugs the road in the curves. Great powering out of a curve. Third gear in Rock mode on a good backroad is a sweet spot for sure. Ergonomics is a work in progress, hoping the new touring saddle and crash guard leg cradles help. A windshield is a must have as well, as I'm not "just" a local rider. Gas fill-ups are more frequent, slightly better than a Harley Sportster with a peanut tank. I'm looking forward to the next 100,000+ miles on this bike. It has a bit of catching up to the other bikes. (12/11/2020)
