Yesterday I rode my R18 from Tellico Plains, along the Cherohala Skyway and the Tail of the Dragon. WOW! The R18 was fantastic.
And every place where I stopped other riders came over and asked about it. It got tons of compliments.
I got some great video, but it's in 3 parts and stitching them...
A good read... https://www.cycleworld.com/story/blogs/ask-kevin/the-advantages-of-flat-motorcycle-engines/?utm_source=internal&utm_medium=email&tp=i-1NGB-Et-UuT-1K0Nu3-1c-16ZCy-1c-1Jzyv4-l66w0pA7Sa-pWK2R
Since I bought my R18 I have been itching to try out the adaptive headlight at night time. Last night, after changing out the tranny & final drive lubes, I took my machine out for a ride. It was a particularly dark night, with a half moon that did very little to illuminate the roads or...
Last Friday, while I was away on a 4 day weekend, the box from Pier City Customs arrived. In it were the black powdercoated engine guards and rubber gas tank pads. Yesterday I installed them in a bit more than an hour and rode away.
The tank pads are easy to install of course. Just peel off the...
I got an email from Bob's BMW and it must be an April Fool's joke!
:ROFLMAO:

A couple years ago I made a mount that places my GoPro camera below the headlight of my Indian Roadmaster. Having the camera centered, above the fender nets some really cool video, as the bike leans through the turns. It worked out so well that I NEEDED to make one for my R18. And the R18 has...
I have just posted another thread about a couple of interesting electrical connectors under the LH side cover and this post is related to those connectors. But I think that we have a topic here that deserves it's own thread.
While checking out the battery charger pigtail under what the OEM...
Soon after taking my R18 home I happened to look down at the rear caliper and said WTF? The pads looked like the "tops" (outboard edges) were worn away, to a severe angle.
But I almost never touch the rear brake pedal and even if I did use the rear brake more, the pads couldn't be worn away...
... to my license! I know that it's called a "cruiser" and presumably that suggests CRUISING along.... maybe at a sedate pace? But it's HARD to stay out of the throttle. And every time I see a curve ahead, I want to accelerate rather than brake. Cruiser my ARSE! It's a dang sportbike without the...
I know that some of you already have various "chocks" to support your motorcycles UPRIGHT while working on them or for transportation purposes. I have a Wheel Dock that I use to hold my Indian Roadmaster upright when it's on the table lift, while transporting it on or in a trailer or while it's...
I know that the requirements for "documentation" do vary according to the locale and the police department, but where are you folks storing "the papers" that you may have to show if the official folks (la gendarmerie, polizei) force you to the side of the road and want to see your papers?
Here...
Here's a good video showing the oil & filter service procedure. It ain't rocket science, but the R18 is NOT "normal". The oil fill port is under the RH "valve cover" and the filter is in a recess under the engine.
Bob's BMW has the complete oil change kit...
Hey Guys!
This is from ME and I'm just an American motorcyclist. Granted, I'm a retired mechanic/machinist and I've been riding since 1971. I probably don't "measure up" to the demographic that a great thoroughly modern auto/motorcycle manufacturer will pay much attention to. But I have...
So far I have very few complaints regarding the R18 and I expect it to stay that way. But, besides the fact that it has no fuel gauge, I find that the rear brake pedal is too high.
I rarely use the rear brake at all and I would like to place my right foot fully on the foot peg without having to...
Hey guys!
I've got the seats off. Now I want to remove the side covers. The manual seems to indicate that they just get pulled horizontally straight out. But DANG! they are soo tight it feels like something might break before they come loose. Should I just exert harder force until they pull off?
The wait is over. Yesterday I picked my new First Edition. The ride home from Pandora Powersports in Chattanooga was chilly, but I enjoyed it none the less. And there were some surprises!
When I ordered it the paperwork said "Special Edition". So I figured that it would not be a "First Edition"...
There are so many riders and customizers bent on changing the R18 exhausts system, I hope that someone will remove the stock mufflers and not want to keep them in storage. I have some ideas to modify them that will require a pair of donor mufflers. The result may end up as junk in the dumpster...
I'm doing my best to be prepared to put my R18 to immediate use when it arrives. I hope it will be here soon. But, in the meantime, I want be prepared to mount my TomTom GPS and cell phone on the handlebars. I already use them on my Indian, but it has huge handlebars that are 1-1/4" in diameter...
I love the look of the R18 from behind. The simple, clean design is so nice. But with just two, small rear signals and no conventional tail light, because the signals do all of the functions for rear lighting, will the cell phone jockeys notice us? Lots of new motorcycles now use the rear...
