Hi Big Jim
Agree 100% with what you say regarding modification cultures. I owned a Fat Bob for years before opting for BMW. The BMW suits me far better than the Harley however, I do miss the fact that everyone modified their Harley's and doing so with the R18 is far more challenging. I have the...
I’m with you regarding how to use the R18. Over the past two years I have got to feel really confident on the bike but this summer, a guy on a Fat Bob (my previous bike), left me for dust on the twisties. All down to confidence I would say.
Hi Hanse
Been running a trickle charger via the power outlet for the past 12 months plus. The bike can spend up to eight weeks or more without being moved as I work away. So far I have always come home to a fully charged bike.
Sadly, more and more, it seems manuals are becoming more difficult to own. I have an Ineos Grenadier one of the selling points being the free issue of workshop info. So far, not available.
A very nice choice.
I have the BMW Pure horsehide jacket in summer and the Merlin Waxed Cotton jacket in brown during the inclement months. Both over my Macna heated jacket. I also have a brown BMW summer jacket (name escapes me) for really hot days.
I tapped into the wire that feeds the power outlet. I removed the plastic cover that supports the power outlet and tapped into that wire using a Posi Tap connector.
The recent weather here in the UK has been brilliant and provided for lots of perfect motorcycle weather. Over that time I have only seen one other R18. Anytime I stop, the bike gets plenty of attention from both motorcyclists and passers by. Really proud to own such a beast. With practice, this...
Hi Varg
Thanks for the reply. I have 4000 miles on my Classic and I have had this throttle blip throughout and regardless of the mode. I have never properly studied when it occurs but will do so before visiting the dealership. I also wondered if the problem I had on a steep hill was related to...
Just back from a 600 mile tour on my Classic. The bike was faultless but I do have a couple of issues I wasn't happy with.
1. When taking off from idle, especially if on a slight incline, the engine rev's in such a way that people would assume I am blipping the throttle and planning on a fast...
I have the Mustang Day Rider and it has made a big difference to comfort levels. A good choice. I guess Mustang are not selling enough seats to justify the business case.
My annual service with only 2800 miles on the bike (due in part to a new hip being fitted that year), came in at around £450.00 which I felt was a bit on the high side. Will start looking for a recommended 'none franchised' BMW specialist. Hard to believe that BMW have been able to keep a lid on...
I have the jacket and really like it. Two area’s of disappointment.
1. The lovely copper lining is not proving to be as robust as I expected.
2. The jacket is made in somewhere like Indonesia and not Japan, Europe or US as I was hoping.
Everything else is all good.
