My previous oil leak was gear oil from the transmission breather, which the dealer repaired under warranty. This is an engine oil leak that looks to be from the oil pan just below the breast plate. :-| 11.7K miles on the bike.

Is it leaving any dripping evidence on your garage floor, or is it only showing as a residue as per your posted pictures?
I haven’t’ seen anything on the floor, most of it seems to have migrated down the front and underneath the engine. I looks like it’s about to let go of a drop.

Maybe look closer at the oil cooler and or the press fittings from the oil cooler?
Deleted my previous reply… I cleaned up the oil, and nothing is obvious. I no longer think it's the oil pan seal. My current suspicion, since I had to rotate the oil cooler out of the way when I installed the RSD breast plate, is that oil is seeping through one of the crimp connections between the oil cooler and the oil hose. Having multiple BMWs, I invested in a crimping tool and a crimp-cutting tool. I'll post my conclusion later. 👍

Cleaned off the oil, set up my big fan, and let the bike run for a while. I believe I’ve pinpointed the “leak”, rather, a weep, as coming from the notched area in the front of the oil pan. I’m thinking they didn’t pay special attention to that area, as the service manual mentions. 🤨It’s definitely wet in there, which could be the source of the weep, or oil may have been blown into that area. Area highlighted by the yellow arrow. You might want to take a peak at yours.

It's a little hard to see in this image, but after cleanup, a new drop of oil appeared on the front cover. This means the oil is coming from beneath that cover and has been blown back into the oil pan and beyond. There is an oil line with an o-ring behind the cover... All speculation until I get that cover off.

I had oil leaking from the oil cooler fitting that is pressed in, when I swapped the OEM oil cooler with the LMC oil cooler; I had to remove and press back in and adjust the locking key, which solve the leak issue.

Taking that cover off is a bit of a PITA...

Yeah it’s a bit of a PIA. I’ve had it off before when I put the RSD cover on. It looks to me like there is one of those pressed on fittings under the cover with an o-ring (#21). We’ll see.

Found it. You can see a gap in the sealant where the oil is oozing out. IMG_1590.jpeg
