2024 R18 Roctane
I recently purchased the R18 Roctane. Previously I rode a Suzuki M109R (My first ever motorcycle purchased on my 68th Birthday). I just turned 78.

One of the selling points was that it appeared to have a 20 litre fuel tank. However it now appears that that it is 16 litres including 4 reserve. I understood it to be 16 plus 4 reserve. Seems my powers of understanding the English language are failing. To cut to the quick, is there a 20 litre tank (or larger) available that I could replace the stock 16 litre tank. As you are aware in North America, especially Canada where I live, it is often a long way between points of interest, sometimes without 'pit stops'.

Otherwise, I can't be more pleased with my new pony!!

A new tank from BMW is 3 grand but that won’t solve your problem unless you could put a bagger tank on. I have not seen any aftermarket tanks that would be compatible but I’m sure if there is a will there in a way. I am sure that would be a big expensive job though. Finding an independent shop and talking with them may be a good option.

The other and maybe best alternative would be to trade in your Roctane and get a R18 with the 24 liter tank. I know you would take a big $$$ hit but it may be similar or less than modifying your current ride.

Let us know and take pictures of what you do!

Huh...learn something new everyday...

I thought the Roctane was just a B model with a different front end. I guess not.

The Roctane is still very cool. The instrument pod in the headlight is just classic.

I would love to integrate the ROCTANE headlight bucket into the Bobber Project design...

For those longer routes, how about getting a plastic jerrycan and keep it inside the panniers? I think I have seen a 3l version somewhere. Small enough to fit inside the panniers.

That’s what I do. I have a 1.5L bottle for trips where it could get questionable with fuel. Recommend it for simply the peace of mind knowing it’s there.

€661 ( approximately $740 USD ). I was in Germany , so collected from a Berlin dealer. No idea what postage to States would be.
Eleven items needed to convert.

So I recently also purchased a Roctane and also wish it had a 6 gallon tank. Like other members mentioned, you would need to buy and put on a 6 gallon tank from the Bagger model.

Another forum member did it here https://www.r18forums.com/threads/a...odel-for-the-r18-fe-pure-or-r18-classic.2280/

And I'm replicating this approach. I'm a nutshell: you'll need to fabricate a front mount as the Roctane uses a different style, modify some bagger gas rubber mounts and everything else is plug and play.

The most expensive piece is getting your hands on a bagger tank; I was able to score a used tank for $200 usd! Good luck, I'll keep you posted when I finish mounting mine.

I have a jerry can for rides through out-of-the-way places, especially northern parts of our Provinces and the Prairies.

Seems to me if the Euros want to sell into North America (in my case, Canada) they should realize we take two + days just to get across one of our Provinces. In Europe they cross 5 or 6 countries in less than a day. Let's face it, England would fit in Southern Ontario. LOL

Otherwise, I love the R18 Roctane!

Fair enough but the reason is not how vast the terrain is, the issue is the lack of fuel stations /infrastructure. No bike out here from any country will go for 500mls without refuelling 😉

I've needed "Jerry Cans" before on trips to the North on my previous 'pony' my M109R (which had a 20 litre tank). Service stations are very far and few.

Hello, I was the first who had bought the 20ltr Tank by LMC. The Instrumentlight will still Show you up 12ltr the reserve, but you have then 8ltr time to get in panic.. The problem ist that you must send him the Tank.
