Gas Filler Cap - Leaks

I’m not sure if this is a problem with the design of the factory gas filler cap but wanted to share with everyone. When I was changing out to a new gas filler cap, I removed the snap ring and found the lock assembly full of ice/water (Garage is below freezing). Anyway it appears it’s possible from the design, the water could leak into the tank. After inspection the small gasket on the lock cover came off.

You may want to consider checking your gas filler cap for water.

Thank you

Condensation in cold weather is a possibility for what you found.
