Got my 600 check up scheduled. They quote 2 hours... $450. For a check up!!?

Whats up with that?! Seems a bit pricey for a once over.

First service is just oils (engine and final drive) and perhaps basic diagnostics. Service manual breaks down everything else.

The idea of saving all that money is appealing... how about I pay to have you make a DIY video. :) 😁

There are YouTube videos for oil changes and other maintenance. Would be nice to get it all in one location.

Yes! AND that they be service interval specific. 600 mi / 6000 mi etc.

That'd be awesome for those of us with a preference to not pay dealer's padded and often gouging prices.

These scammy people charge $190. an hour and more than once in the very short time I've dealt with them caught them over charging.

Once was charging an hour labor for installing a horn replacement that's 2 friggen bolts / 5 minutes. On which when pushing back I was refunded.

They make BANK on people's ignorance.

@Witsend ... I thought we are keeping politics out of this forum? ...

Bait much? Who just made it about politics? Project much? :ROFLMAO:

Perhaps my "Unfortunately CA" had nothing to do with politics? Rather (and truthfully) --the "Unfortunate" I was referring to was relating to the DISTANCE from him.

I love CA for the record. While most the country is freezing their kahoonies off --I'm loving life and riding my motorcycle every day in warm sunshine .

I am not sure (maybe I am too simple minded) what you mean by 'bait' or 'project' I was simply commenting on your choice of profile pic ... if it was meant ironic ... so be it ... it is your choice ... and I am just up the road from you in Oregon and (f..k) no I can't ride ... it is sub 32 and foggy ... a formula for disaster! 😆

Because, since it's been the same profile picture since day ONE I don't know why you're bringing up the pic now? And in the middle of thread (vs DM) that has to do with R18 service. Thus I thought your comment was in relation "CA unfortunately" My bad. My misunderstanding for lack of clarity.

But if one is a dog person and hates cats --posting a cat avatar could be political. If one is a religious person and someone posts a Satan avatar? They let that be a trigger? Who cares? But to get triggered by something so ridiculously insignificant? People need to grow thicker skin. In the end it's all about politics of some sort anyways. I could give a hoot if someone posts a political figure... Or Satan.. or Jesus... But God forbid a CAT!! NO NO NO CATS! 🤣

Hahahaha .. well I guess I never noticed ... otherwise I may have commented on that before ... profile pics are up to each and everybody themself, personally I use a pic of myself that I like, that saves me from having to ponder a 'deeper meaning' of what I chose ;) ... maybe I misunderstood your intentions. I am too old to be 'triggered', the world and the worlds perception of things seems to have changed a lot and for the most part I don't understand it anymore ... and if I don't understand something I ask ;) ...
In any case, I posted valve adjustments a while back .. not a video, just some stills and written procedures. That is how I do it and considering I can do it means it is not rocket science ... give it a whirl, its always (IMO) better to do it yourself, then you know its done right ... and not by a mechanic that has 'no dog in the fight' ... you can do it, I am sure of it!

P.S.: I am a dog person .. but I still feed the damn stray cats that my late wife used to feed

I can only imagine what CA is like. In southern KS no scenic rides, but I can motor year round. Rarely do we get a snowfall that grounds me except right now 6 inches.

So I see the vids and pdfs for 6000 mi. service. But Im at the 600. What specifically is done for the 600 miles thats supposedly far less than the 6k?

I want to try and save at least some cash doing whatever I can with limited resources: tools/equip I have.
