What did you do to your R18 today?

Well this afternoon I took my flapper servo off and while I was under there grubbing about decided to lockwire them open, the springs on both seemed fine, quite strong and the full range of movement on both flappers was smooth, nothing to suggest anything untoward going on inside the pipe. I lockwired because I don’t know whether they would ‘flutter’ at all especially on full throttle so thought……may as well. I’m just waiting on my (2) Healtech modules to arrive in the post. Then I will MacGyver something to hang the modules on and tie them securely out of harms way.

Tell you what from day one I’ve been very impressed with the build on this bike, and whilst looking under the belly of it I can see all the frame welding is lovely underneath with no splatter or rough bits and let’s be honest no one is ever going to see any of this. So too the frame paint, thick, glossy and all the wires neatly tucked away. Will update when the modules are fitted and fingers crossed no issues 👍

I just unhooked the cables and put the black covers back on. No issues. Servo buddies not needed. (FYI for anyone out there who doesn't want to remove flappers).

Hi JayB
You mean you can unplug the servomotors for the exup valve flappers and do not need the little cheating modules servo buddies?
No readings on the screen?

Protector? Excellent.

If you don't mind, where did you get them?
Yes Protector, it's our MC. We are relatively new (and small) founded about 10 yrs old in Scotland hence the gaelic. Stateside we have Chapters in Washington DC, Florida, Alaska and the newest is in South Carolina (I think!) https://www.facebook.com/dionadair.lemc/ https://arn1e.co.uk/dionadair-le-mc/

The plates came from https://www.racefoxx.com/BMW-R18-Engine-Type-Plates-indiv-laser-engraving-available just bear in mind that these are laser etched and not full relief badges like some shown on the forum.

This morning I was driving on a country road when i dropped my R18B while doing a u-turn.
After a moment of loneliness, I managed to get it up (thanks youtube., impossible to lift without the right method .. )
No damage on the bike thanks to wunderlich engine protect bar and case protection bar.
I don’t regret the investment.

Ugh 😩... I'm sorry to hear... At least you're alright and the bike doesn't have much damage..

I've personally used the "cross arm method" or whatever it is called; that's what I call it..

Assuming you dropped it while turning left and the bike is now laying on the left side (clutch side)?

I'm facing the bike, where I take my right-hand and grab the left handlebar grip (clutch grip); with my left hand - I'm pushing on the throttle grip, while pulling up with my right hand in unison with me walking the bike upwards with my legs.

It's crazy easy... I'll see if I can find the YT of a retired NYPD Wheel Lt who shows it, lifting a HD Road Glide.

That's what I thought. Thank you for the reply, and the service to civilization.

Nice tool rolls ....brand name?
Ref: post #2802
Under the headlamp tool roll:

Above rather expensive. However the leather is ultra high quality, heavy duty, extremely well made and the lid fits tight around the round edges of the base for protection against water (Very unusual for round tool bags). Also underneath each of the 2 buckles are quick disconnects which make it easy to open.

The handlebar bag is an Amazon low cost unit; however very well made:

That is not the method I used, I will try the next time.
I watched your video, it seems easier
Thanks

All I did was disconnect the 2 cables on each side. The flap stays open. Then I put the black covers back on. I didn't want to take it all out in case I resell it. Less crap to put back on.
