Customs R18

Every few days we get a photo of an R18 with a fancy paint job or a new fairing. 95+% aren't as attractive or as elegant as the original. They're interesting, I guess, and I'm glad that people are pouring money into their custom builds...and that's... about...it.

As far as I'm concerned, customization peaked right here:

That's what I want.

nice indeed. the best? the favorite for me it's like choosing which watch i like for the day. it always changes. maybe i need 1/2 dozen variations of the r18 in the garage.

in the article they talk about removing "all the plastic". i guess that is a standard intro to the customization world. funny tho is that there is scant little plastic on the r18. fenders, air intake covers and side plates etc, all typical plastic parts on most bikes are in fact metal on the r18

That's a great looking bike and I'm not really a bobber fan.
Personally, I'm not into much customization and love my Classic just as it stands. I can remove the windscreen and bags and have a different look and riding experience. I would love to have one of the vintage front fender license plates just to throw off the gawkers as Ive already gotten several "what year is that" questions. Bottom line, I can appreciate the custom looks but just not into adding several thousands of dollars to a depreciating luxury. The R18 is different enough where I don't need to customize it to stand out in a crowd. Harleys are a dime a dozen here. Customizing is probably the only way to have a different look.

** I love the blue R18 above... the seat, the shorty pipes but detest ape hangers. Wouldn't put em on my Road Glide and won't put em on my Classic

That just means you haven't found the right watch.
