Rock or Roll?

Just in the interest of light conversation:
Do you prefer to ride on Rock or Roll mode?

I toggle between the two, but I mostly "Roll". I enjoy a quite smooth cruising style ride. I think that is the type of ride the R18 1st Edition is intended for. That is open road, 45 mph, sunny 70F e6c. From time to time, I do like to do a more spirited ride and take advantage of the torque. But for the most part, I Roll.
I must say though, I may have some kind of deep insecurity, as I do catch my self switching "Rock" when other bikes are around. 😳

In city traffic, to me anyway, the only difference I notice between Rock and Roll is the shakes at stops. Having said that, I don't think I have put it out of Rock after the first day or two of playing around with the modes. While it's possible I guess that it might be marginally easier in Roll in traffic, it's totally easy in Rock also.

If I ever get caught in BAD weather I might remember to switch to RAIN. Other than that, it never occurs to me to ride in anything but ROCK.

I don't know why, but when I put it in rock mode, at idle I pull clutch in Is make a strange noise like clutch couldn't engage properly, only in Rock mode.

I'm also on Rock most of the time.
But I have been caught by heavy rain and was happy to switch on Rain.
I made acceleration tests and it worked very well.
Good to have the choice.

Roll seems to get a bad rep as compared to Rock, but I find Rock to only be enjoyable when you have long roads with few stoplights in between. I am a fairly aggressive rider and am comfortable saying Roll is my preferred mode.

I'm not sure I understand.... If you're on a long and open road, I can't see that there'd be much of a difference in any of the modes. My understanding is that the difference is throttle response. If you're cruising along at a constant speed, how would throttle mapping enter into the picture?

I also have a strange noise when the R18 is cold and I put in the first gear.

It is independent of the mode used, I will try to record it; could you do the same to compare the noise
