Mine started doing that at about 2500 miles. The Motoscan thing appears to have fixed it.

Nice video, however it's not for an R18, The R18 doesn't have the module under the seat. I don't know if it has that module anywhere.

Thanks Mike, I did have the meter and checked several wires, no volts, but I will try again in a few days. Good to know about the can bus. Thought it might be the bus to Canada. Thanks.

I also am very new at this and am quite old, low tech, but that's what I did, just hit the reset icon and it miraculously fixed itself!

You probably can, you will need the OBD Link MX+, that's about $125.00 from Amazon but the Link won't work on a motorcycle with the MotoscanPro . that's a $27.00 App for the Android. It's a bit of a hassle to get started but it's self-explanatory and it beats paying the dealer to clear faults.

Just got the Motoscan , changed the oil and filter, reset the mileage and time, cleared the service light and fixed the start problem. Thanks for the post and information, that not starting the first time was irritating!

I bought the ST2 systems brake module that is supposed to make the brake light flash when slowing. Am having no luck in finding a good switched 12 volt source or the brake light wire. I have checked the wiring under the left side cover but the only thing I have found is ground! R18 FE. Anyone...

If I install an original steering damper from BMW that is stock equipment on R18's with cruise control, will that solve the problem. My bike is rather difficult to steer as it is. Especially in left hand turns. I appreciate all of your input from everyone.

Thanks, can you let me know that source? We are leaving Wed. for a fishing trip to Utah so it will be after that before I can do anything about it. Might just get one from the BMW dealer here in Oklahoma City.
