The aux. lights definitely light up the road better, and I'm assuming that that makes me more visible. And as to the "mini-high beam" illuminating the leaned over direction -- my R18 FE is attached to a sidecar, so I'm probably never going to see that feature.
So, with the third transmission installed which now has over 400 more miles on it, I'm hopeful that the tranny problems are finally resolved. Just wanted to close the loop on this saga.
My H & B bags with the C-bow rack are great! And they're bigger than the ones on the TC. Take that with however many grains of salt you need, but I'm VERY happy that I got them instead of the stock bags.
I got an FE literally a month after they hit the local showroom floor. I knew I was going to want bags, windshield, floorboards and a heel-toe shifter, and I knew that all of those things were available in the accessory catalog. Although I ended up paying more to accessorize the FE, I'm...
I wondered the same thing. However, the dealership service dept. mgr. did tell me that the replacement switch includes the necessary wiring, which isn't present on the FE models.
Admittedly, my bike is not a Classic. It's an FE that I added the lightbar to. Attached is a picture of the new switch. You will note that I do not have cruise control. Where the previous switch simply said "MODE", this new one has the aux. lights icon and now serves as both "MODE" and...
(Hopefully) Final post to update the transmission saga: After dealing with BMW NA since Sept. 20th, and going back and forth with them over my request that they buy back the bike and replace it, which they declined to do -- I brought the rig home on Dec. 4th, and actually made it all the way...
I ordered the Aux running lights along with the BMW windshield for my FE last May. Finally got all the pieces in late November. That handlebar switch was the part that held up everything. However, Enzo5000's comment about the mount holes needing to match up is valid. Mine did not match up...
Shoot me your email address to: dwendell at wavecable dot com and I'll send you a copy of that part of the invoice. The LL was broken up into different charges, i.e. LL kit, front fender for use with LL, new steel braided brake lines, shocks, etc. There were also design costs (that I wouldn't...
Although I'm not totally discounting the possibility that the sidecar is the issue, as I said before, I know I'm not the only one who has attached a hack to an R18. And none of those other owners have expressed any issues. All we can do is wait and see.
Personally, I tend to think that there...
There's a LOT to unpack in what you said Only Big Poodles. I'll try to respond to all of it.
First -- Yes there is a lemon law here in WA, and according to that law I already have a right to file a lemon law claim because it took more than 2 months for them to replace the first transmission...
So, the saga of the blown R18 transmission continues. Picked up the repaired (new transmission) from the dealership on Aug. 20th. Trailered it (because of the LL front end it really can't be ridden solo) back to LBS-USA for reinstall of the sidecar. Got the sidecar reinstalled, but didn't...
I acquired the bike as a stock R18 FE, and having looked at the BMW accessory catalog I assumed I could modify as needed. That was when I discovered that most of the accessories weren't yet available despite being shown in the catalog. And as if that wasn't bad enough, then they come out with...
