I hit a 2x4 that was kicked up by the truck in front of me. Fender is crushed. Hit my left knee and left thumb after caving my fender in on itself. Ordered a larger fender about 20 mins after the accident. No real damage other than the fender. Still, it's a bit of a kick in the teeth.

I did similar with the driver footpegs. Picked up a cheapo set of pegs originally for a HD sportster. They lack the spring pocket and like you, I had to shim with a few hard plastic or Teflon washers. Not the greatest in terms of quality but it did raise the pegs enough that I now rub the engine...
