What did you do to your R18 today?

Nahhh must be the pic, it is their 18 inch screen… not too bad at all. Goes on and off in less than 30 seconds too, my favorite part. I am tall though… 6’2” with a very long torso Most of the time I dont like riding with a windshield… rides where I ride over 75 for more than a few hours at...

What did you do to your R18 today?

It is freakishly warm. Dialed in the madstad removable windshield at speeds up to 90. No buffet finally after two hours of back and forth wrenching :-) Now I’m going to take it off and use it 3 times a year :-)

    Rider Comfort

Russel seats are the ugliest things on earth but I always put them on my GS bikes :-) They are magnificent. I opted for the weekender on my R18; Mustang makes a very solid product and it is a very good seat.

    Happy with the Madstad windshield

i don't need lowers myself and bought a 22 inch and an 18 inch Madstad. Its winter here so , I've only tested and adjusted. I like the 18 inch, even though I'm 6'2 with a long torso. I am going to cut the 22 down into something, perhaps a 2o inch True touring wndscree or a flycreen. Comes...

    Erratic heated grips

BMW states this as a feature/benefit on the R18. They should come back on where you left them. just switch them off... now do that before you take off or you will shut your bike off :-)... but anyway, just turn the grips off before you ride.

    Windscreen Uncertainty

I'm reviving this old thread to update. I put the Madstad on my R18. I do like it because it adds very little to the bike cosmetically and I normally ride with no windhield. I did not want to add anything and wanted a 30 second removal install: 1. I am 6'2 with a very long torso. Even the...

What Bike Would You Trade Your R18 for?

Well, the R18 is a niche bike and I wouldn't trade it. I will eventually need a new ADVtourer, the GS will become a PanAmerica or AfricaTwin

R18 is quite enjoyable : my opinion

I had a lot of problems and I still enjoy the retro feel of the R18.

My $23,000 Boat Anchor thanks BMW

The GS has become a bloated mess (although the wet clutch is a good call.) I have an R1200Gs with about 125 on the clock. It has Ohlins shocks but other than that it has all its parts that came with it. R18 has only 10,000 miles and can’t say that :-)

    R18 vs Harley

It must be winter… Anyway. I love all motorcycles and they all have their thing. I have ridden and owned Haley Davidson motorcycles since I was a pup. I have ridden BMW motorcycles ever since I rode a Hardtail to Los Angeles from North Carolina as a kid :-) I ride both I love both. The...

My $23,000 Boat Anchor thanks BMW

Brand new bike… dealer and BMW NA screwed me over so bad I will NEVER, EVER give them another dollar. And I have a 500,000 mile award from them. I sent it back and told them where to put it. BMW NA has screwed that company up so badly, along with the new stand alone dealer network (mine...

Quote from Dr. Markus Schramm, head of BMW Motorrad

OK guys a few things: BMW makes quiet motorcycles and they always have. You shouldn’t have bought one if you wanted a Harley with gutted pipes. It ain’t ever gonna happen. It’s why my cruiser used to be a bored out 124 Thug Dyna with gutted pipes :-). BMW is committed to not just...

I have threads. I was sold a bike with a defective engine and leaking clutch lines.
