Adaptive Headlight Recall Update

Cheers, R1800 riders. I'm waiting to take delivery of a "stop sale" 2023 R1800 Transcontinental.
The latest updates are scant, but if you're in line with the rest of the "stop sale" crowd, we can all campaign by writing customer care

I like this Idea as I am also waiting for delivery for my 2023 R18B. I already sent an email 2 weeks ago to "[email protected]" asking for additional updates on this topic. Although customer service was accommodating they still directed me over to my local BMW dealer for additional updates. Let's all flood the email "[email protected]" from everyone on this forum asking for more transparency on the resolution and dates. Once you all do that post here. let's see how many read this thread and help raise concerns. Regards, LS

Just sent an email .

In my opinion BMW is not managing expectations for this issue. I do not think its a huge ask to keep us more informed on the progress. i.e. we have a plan and this it what it looks like along with a timeline. this would at least allow us all to adjust accordingly. Also I would be ok if BMW provided an option for us to decide if we want an older version of the light or not. As I said I like the product however I am disappointed on the lack of clarity/ transparency.
Test Rode the New HD Roadglide today I May go Back to HD

Emailed them and they provided no help only reiterated that we have a recall and there in no fix for this at this time and cannot give a timeframe

Spoke with my dealer today and again there is no solution at this time and unwilling to order a new headlight no help whatsoever .
Hang on. If your headlight is defective and the bike is under warranty, then they don’t have a leg to stand on and they need to order another headlight, period. Me, personally, I would have insisted on that and would not have left the premises until the order is done.
I won’t teach you how to suck eggs, but that is what I would have done.

Spoke to my dealer no solution.. The dealers are also frustrated because they cannot sell the new inventory they have in stock. Since you have a defective headlight what have you experiencing??

I did ask and they said they would not be able to get it because it is still from the same manufacturer

But then it means you cannot ride your motorcycle safely at night?
No the adaptive Headlight Feature is effected the head light still work at nite.

In My Opinion, this is really frustrating. BMW Acknowledged this recall back in December 2023. We are now in April 2024 waiting to take delivery of our bikes. How long does it really take to go back to the production line and tweak to fix this issue, start MFG and then shipping. bingo, Bango! Customers/ dealers would be happy. BTW. I did call BMW last week and customer service was really nice, very empathetic I did like the service. I guess this is why I like BMW. nun the less, she also did not have any more information other than what we all already know. here's to hoping the fix is around the corner. I don't want to waste spring riding on the east coast.

Still waiting...here's the result from this morning's (4/3/24) update.

Let's keep emailing customer service. The squeaky wheel gets the grease or a new headlight.
My rider buddies and I are planning a cross-country trip for the last two weeks of June.
They are starting to think my talk about Transcontinental beauty for the trip is a fantasy.
Flood the customer service Inbox with requests for updates: https://nhtsa.bmwgroup.com/safetyrecall/pages/motorradRecallSearch.xhtml
Seattle from Connecticut or bust,
Robert

Understanding the Problem is one thing But they need to get this resolved

I'm looking for a R18B. I found out about the recall here. One dealer I was working with didn't even acknowledge it until I asked, pushed for a cash sale, Another dealer said "I wish I could sell you this bike but there's a stop sale. My local dealer simply ignores me, they were kind enough to let me ride it after the Classic I rode had speedo issues and ran like crap (They did say the plugs fouled out and they updated the ECU.

The dealer finally acknowledged they can't sell it through BMW financing, only cash or another institution.
