Hi Morlin, post a picture of your bike, we always like to see another one join. Someone will chime in with advice on the headlight no doubt 👍

    Hello World!

Welcome 👍. Set your rear preload ( if you haven’t already ) to get the best from it. Table guide in your manual. Short shift and ride the torque. Lovely bikes.

    UPDATE: Made it home

Persevere with the heel & toe, it’s was the first and only time I’ve ever had it on any bike. Now, +600 miles later I love it. At first I was just the same as you, it felt a bit clumsy, a bit odd. I find a more comfortable shoe/boot helps a lot. Bulky and stiff footwear IMHO robs you of feeling...

What did you do to your R18 today?

Probably not a ‘normal’ wasp either Noelpolar, being an Aussie wasp I expect it has fangs, armour and a half inch sting! Glad no damage to your bike 👍

What did you do to your R18 today?

Had my bike taken in for 1st service at Marshall BMW Grimsby. Have to say the whole thing was terrific, really friendly, all done on time, £174 which I am very happy with. For comparison a good friend recently had his Yamaha XSR700 done at his dealer, also a 1st service and he paid £150. I know...

Question Tyres - Bias ply or radial for rear?

Do you like how the bike performs? If you do I’d stick with OE. They must be specified for a reason. A new set of tyres will feel better anyway, they always do.

    Iconic Pictures with R18

Thanks Anibal, yea it’s pretty dry up here too, glad that spell of heat has passed through, back to normal temps today 😁

    Iconic Pictures with R18

Rarely see ourselves on our own bikes. Was going out for a ride this afternoon & my wife gestured to me through the front window to just wait a mo, she quickly returned a few seconds later with the camera and opened the window to lean out and then wanted me to reverse onto the lawn for a pic...

    Show Us Your R18

Went down my favourite stretch of quiet country road, stopped to just soak it in…..ahh… piece and quiet. Nobody about. In the distance on the horizon you can just see the Scunthorpe Steel works, as we Brits know it’s currently the LAST remaining virgin blast furnace works in the whole country...

    Future R18 owner

Very personal on the cruising speed, personally I like 60mph ish because it’s effortless and wind pressure is generally ok at that sort of speed unless you are right into a headwind. Then it’s hard work. The bike can and will go a lot faster (limited to about 112mph anyway) but you’d have to be...

    Future R18 owner

Hi Goman. Got some skin in this game. Had mine 4 months now and have been able to start using it properly now that the weather is much better here in the UK. (I had a R18FE for 2 1/2 years before it so know the bikes pretty well). Roctane IMHO does ride well, plush firm I’d call it, the...

    Oil Site Glass Replacement?

I’m with Star-Lord above. My first thought was is there enough oil in it or the opposite (too much). There’s only 500ml if I remember correctly between high & low marks on the sight glass, not much in such a physically big engine. If you don’t have the bike properly vertical you could easily...

Should have posted here earlier, but here I am in Hampshire, UK

No one can really answer that for you as it’s such a personal thing. That’s a good saving on what it would have cost new. The seller may be on this forum, message him/her and ask why they are selling it with such little mileage done, see how you get on 🤷‍♂️

Welcome along, spend a bit of time setting your bike up for yourself (rear preload) and maybe consider other seats if you feel a need. There are plenty of options available now and often eBay has some used ones for sale. Lots of information on the forum, there’s R18’s all over the world now👍

Some Notes from a Good Maintenence

There was/is a thread on this on the forum somewhere from a while back. Certain very early build bikes were required to have a very quick procedure done at the dealers, on a recall notice. Lubricant was sprayed onto the driveshaft joint, literally. My previous R18FE was one of the affected...

    Harley Davidson seeking new CEO

As I briefly touched upon in a forum post last week, I had a chance conversation with a HD owner at a cafe. He was on a 2006 bike (Softail of some type). Anyway, he told me that he didn’t like the ‘modern’ Harleys, the look of them around the headlight and the overly wide rear wheels. Think he...
