After doing a Bren tune on my r9t that made a big difference, and not having got into trouble, I went and got a tune for my R18. I even splurged $25 on 8g of memory for my 2011 or so windows 7 notebook! I was hoping to be impressed at about 50% of what I was with the r9.
Anyway it arrived...
Fwiw.... I'm about to tune mine and will be getting the reverse fix later in the year when I get my first "free service" as part of the reverse compensation package. The "$320aud" I will have to pay for the retune is in my mind offset by the free service I got for 3 years.... and I want to...
Or...... did those that have had the reverse module fixed, that have a Bren tune, that they removed before taking the bike in for the fix, have any issues reloading the tune? (Haha!)
That is nice..... problem in our market is that ordering a specific bike costs much closer to ""full retail" then buying one on the floor where they are heavily discounted (knowing the price will correct to lowish secondhand 1 minute after taking ownership!)
I can understand you frustration.
I was thinking of putting off the purchase of a tune for my R18 until after it's warranty had expired (in Australia you void your warranty if you service the bike yourself... for the most part)... and my bike has a 5yr warranty so October 27.... and with...
I had that (or something similar).... when I did the install before the hand held device arrived. Once I had the unit and plugeed it into the PC and selected the 4th option it updated without the error.
Funny how this sort of thing happens at the worst times...... as an electronic worker person in the past, given the lights worked ok with the tune initially, and that the lighting kit hasn't been on the bike all that long, I'd be thinking at 85% certainty, of early life failure of an aspect of...
Mmm... when I read about the "update as part of the reverse fix process" I was going to add a comment about it..... probally should have! Sorry.
Hopefully if one removes the tune beforehand it will reload again after. Off course this will always be a risk if the bike is seeing BMW's workshop.
My one went the same (for my r9t)..... now I'm contemplatimg a second one (for the R 18).... mmmm, will need to see how long the code is valid for....
The r9 tune was immediately obvious when I took a quick ride this morning.... but off course 2 minutes in it rained.
Fwiw.... mine arrived today (Australia) and I found a 2011'ish windows 7 notebook hiding in a box in the shed.... all seemed to work ok even though the notebook does not meet the min requirement) and have uploaded my bikes file (for my r ninet... not R18).
No worries.... fwiw after trying some risers I settled on 25mm ones and then got 25mm longer lines and remounted the blocks back under. I may still have the screws and will have a look today.
The bike's previous owner has installed 50mm bar risers.... these look like the ones that come with the kit that includes the L brackets to relocate the line joiner blocks from under the top tree etc.... so the fastners are not BMW parts as such....
Fwiw, I would not be worrying about BT. They seem to be a competent businesss that have done this mulitple times on many forums and would have a good handle on their business model.
If wanting to improve one's karma, I am far from competent (wife's words) and will readily accept donations...
Yeah, I have an old mac hooked up to my coffee roaster so will have a play with that. I think I only disposed of an old windows notebook a few months ago when clearing out some clutter.... so all seems to be going as it does!
