What did you do to your R18 today?

    LIkey! Chrome is evil 😁

    Exactly. 👍

    Revsrse to 1st gear

Hi, can you provide a but more detail on what you're experiencing? It's unclear to me as I never use reverse unless the bike is in neutral. Therefore, I never go from reverse to 1st. I go from neutral to reverse, reverse to neutral, then neutral to 1st gear. I hope I'm not being pedantic and...

    Issue with the reverse gear

Is there pressure on the reverse gearing from the bike's weight? I find, like with many direct mechanical linkages, to get it to disengage there cannot be any pressure on the linkage. I occasionally have to roll my bike back and forthba couple inches to ensure any pressure on the linkage is...

    R18 lean angles

I concur with your observation about the TC's lean angle vs it's steering transition rate. After riding my TC, when I get on the 1150 GS it feels almost 'flickable' in the turns. The GS has always been a good snd prefictable ride in the twisties but this 'responsiveness' caught me a bit by...

I gave up motorcycles years ago - Am I crazy to think about riding again?

Note: off-topic... Not sure that Betteridge's law of headlines applies here but I really enjoyed reading the linked article and the referenced follow-on research.

I gave up motorcycles years ago - Am I crazy to think about riding again?

Do what you love. If it is do-able, you will.find a way to do it. I'm only 65 but I cannot (well, I try not to) imagine the time when I will need to give up my bikes, though I do know that time is coming & I have thought about it. That being said, sometimes I get the urge to do things that I had...

    Longer ride

Good stuff. You certainly have done some 'research' with your experience with your bikes! 👍 I've posted before that I thought I was going to get a K1600, wanted one since they came out. Fortunately, the dealer had both the K1600 & the R18 TC on the floor. I was able to do rather lengthy...

    Longer ride

Thanks. My 32" inseam is quite comfortable on the TC. I hope you find it works for you, too. Agrerd that it isn't a K1600 but I've found it to be pretty comfortavle for touring, albeit it's not a pack-mule like my GS.

    Longer ride

May I ask what is your inseam? I seem to see that may be the concern with the R18's legroom, so I'm curious where you 'sit' 😄

    Long Hot Road Trip

Same here in Pennsylvania. As soon as the salt goes on the road, the bike goes in the garage and stays there until spring rains wash away the salt residue. Used to live in central coastal California. The riding was year-round with great riding routes. It's one of the 3 things (yes, only 3) I...

    Long Hot Road Trip

Ditto on being focused the the equipment. I can tell when I need some 'preventive or corrective maintenance', but sometimes the equipment only let's you know catastrophically. Should be a great ride. I looped north, up around Albany NY, then cut east. That may be too far out of your way for...

    Long Hot Road Trip

The bike will be fine. The rider, on the other hand.... 😁 I did 4k on my TC in Aug-Sep 2023, from western Pennsylvania to the eastern-most town in Maine. No problems at all. I think your biggest issue will be avoiding I-95 and the coastal megalopolis, if possible. Thwy are good alternate routes...

Helmet comms: what works, or doesn't, with BMW Motorrad Connected?

Two weeks later... I finally spent some time in the garage and followed up. It wasn't flaking & procrastination as much as the busy holidays that caused the delay. I haven't even been in the garage for the past 2 weeks except to take out the trash & cut bits to install a microwave in the...
