    Bar-end mirrors: Up ⬆️ or down ⬇️?

I run them on my r9t.... down for cool and blind, or up on that bike. Down sorta gives a "don't give a f...k vibe". For some reason when I added them I needed to ride faster. I do note that with bar ends I feel I can't just glance at the mirror quickly (say an eyeball move) like I could...

    How the vibe works

Fwiw.... when I added the bren tune it lost (for the most part) the quirky idle and off idle poping etc (fish tale exhaust). I replaced the fish tails with some free flowing cones and got some character back.

    Updated rear shock

If one is not changing the load on the rear of the bike regulary, I'd always go the +20mm for the extra 1" of travel it gives. Where I Iive tree roots lift the roads surface on some faster roads and no cruiser suspension will sort that... just softens the hit a bit.

    Front tire R18 FE (19"/ 120 wheel)

My original tyre cupped like that. Mostly with lighter fork oil, new springs and emulators.... lots of hard riding and front brake use. I'm running an adventure tyre that I've had in the shed for a few years now, must have a look at how that is fairing.... almost fell into the first few...

Bren Tuners: Let us hear what you think!

Cool.... we use to call that an "overtaking switch".... mostly for pulling caravans with an old toyota.... or pulling wheelies with a SWB at the street drags when younger (50yo...haha). Anyway, sounds like your son has you sussed.

R20 almost prod ready it seems

My wife said it would be for a boxer fan with a real little willie (She may have said that to stop me getting one....)

Bren Tuners: Let us hear what you think!

This supports one of my (many) theories. That, when mostly unburdened by day to day survival, men after 60 to 65 years of age start to "anti age" from a base of about 25yo... so at say 70.... you think like a 20yo (not perform like one though, sadly). I regular have good ideas now days...

    Exhaust Modified

So they stayed alive their way.....

Bren Tuners: Let us hear what you think!

I see a nitro canister.... just needs a sticker..... and a dummy switch on the bars.... and a story.

    Exhaust Modified

The thing about R18s is that it's owner is really old, so for the most part has worked out how to stay alive riding on 2 wheels. And as a living fossil.... loud pipes are really only a little bit loud these days since we never used ear plugs in the 70s.

R20 almost prod ready it seems

I think I need a long wheel base or I'd kill myself.... so one of each for me still (R18 and r9t).

Bren Tuners: Let us hear what you think!

Try buying a car from a car factory..... same thing.

Bren Tuners: Let us hear what you think!

One of the major things often overlooked in these type of discussions is the significant differences in the users (us) and how we use our R18's. As my own sample group of 1, I have no thought of economy and mostly ride my bike in a irresponsible fashion (as judged by the fun poilce) Yesterday...

Bren Tuners: Let us hear what you think!

I would not use a local tuner. There is a well known tuner not far from me and I was going to go with them but after talking to him I realised no one in Australia see's enough of these bikes to really understand them (far different here to the Harely scene for example). So I waited for a 20% off...

What did you do to your R18 today?

Whilst replacing the battery in my R18 today I took the opportuntiy to remove the two blade fuses, clean the contacts before replacing them. It amazes me how poor a choice a 30amp blade fuse exposed to the elements is in this application. I might do something different one day. Would not...

    Welp..this happened

Clearly it was an upset bombardier beetle.... "acts as a living, explosive chemical weapon. It shoots a boiling, noxious chemical spray from its abdomen to defend against predators" much like an upset lithium battery.

    Welp..this happened

Nah... for you the translation would probally be "vino" exchange rate would = 6 bottles

    Welp..this happened

We train for it on monday nights in "astray...la".... get a few drinking buddies together to form a cone.... sneek up on it then and snuff it out. Real men don't fear 12v.... 48v is when I'd go straight to beer (always have better ideas after a few beers).

    Welp..this happened

Ok, note to self, keep hydrated (pee before plan b) and always carry some beer(plan b).... (beers more useful then fire ext if bike doesn't catch fire). If have sidecar then always have a slab.... 12 tins for fire and 12 for after.

    Updated rear shock

The shock thing is pretty easy to work out. Most are here to learn/share from other owners experience. Search on Ohlins and Wilbers.... it's easy to find how many have experience with them (on R18s) and what they think. Whilst I haven't read anything about Ohlins.... quite a few have tried...
