Today Chauchina, Granada. First 'longer' stretch highway. A doddle. At 110 km/h did 15 km/l. Was fun. Parked near a tree, only half in the shade. Within 5 minutes a roof was put up 🤩 As always, default, the rig was a magnet for both grey gear heads and women. The latter under frowning looks...

btw for the dog lovers. I have written 6 published books about dogs, ditto about training, 1 about generic principles of learning. Applies to men too :p Competed with sight hounds and won several international lure coursing championships. Bred sound dogs using artificial insemination of...

the multiple chairs being a big thing makes the visible lean out of the RS logical. My rig is about the inverse; héavy tractor, (too) lightweight chair. The max. permissible loads of the R18 excludes a pillion passenger with a sidecar fitted. Does not need a subframe though, the RS does no?!

Anyway, néxt session tomorrow. Today cycling up again with him along. Then me back and drive the sidecar up. The plan is to Sunday morning attend a classic vehicle meeting in Granada. Again only the morning. After the evening farm chores, drive with him in the chair down to my apartment again...

...and today the litmus test: The first unassisted trip. Only the 12 kms from the cortijo to the piso. Very varied route, passing trough two small villages. Several imperfections which I could stop short of going really wrong. Basically learning experience for me. I think he quieted down. One...

What did you do to your R18 today?

I don´t anymore. When I slowed down from fast bikes went open faced, sun glasses and paying more attention to my surroundings :p Did try out the top speed of my R18 steed. And then again with the performance plates / exhaust flap delete. Should have donned full face and ear plugs  My...

    Exhaust Modified

The best reputed motor magazines write the word of whose bread they eat. Been there, did that, went do something else. Even been an 'independent' free lance. Incl. dabbling on the interweb when blogging did not exist yet. Still ate bread with preferably something else.

I use anything with the correct specs. Currently have Motul 7100 for the engine. Was too good an offer to refuse otherwise would have gone for Putoline. Jan Put was a 'feature' at the racing tracks.

They should. Apart from two involuntary topple overs, I have laid the bike on either side and the mufflers did not ground.

Most likely yes, models with the tear drop mufflers. I would be VERY cautious though as there are sturdy buggers and a skid would see them do damage to the frame rather than give in themselves. Plenty of affordable replaced mufflers about.

    Crash bars

ok, fair enough, seems like a good plan. Would do that too actually.

What did you do to your R18 today?

It bugged me big time. Not so much the noise but the marked differences on different types of tarmac. I found it distracting. With the sidecar it is gone of course.
