Remove left side cover and identify where the wiring for the rear end plugs in. Carefully separate the two parts of the connection. It's not easy the first time, just try to not break any plastic. Once you figure out the mechanism and do it a few times, it gets easier.

I've only know of a few members who added sidecars. Both posted extensively about the process. So I'm guessing, and may be wrong, that whomever posted the photos you're referencing was just doing so because they're nice photos. As such, I can see how it'd be difficult to dig em up but, even if...
