Not yet. Will replace with same LiFePO4 in my FE Pure R18 when original lead battery dies. Before removing front speakers from Transcontinental, need to contact BMW techs to see if any codes initiated by this modification. Rear speaker removal has not caused any issues.
Losing weight. So far with deletions and additions , 22kg saved. Under the external speaker grill is solid padding. May be a waterproof barrier ; reason thinking along these lines, if water got in, it would pool on top of speaker. If not waterproof with speaker removed, will cover base of...
Who’s removed this on a Transcontinental? I’ve read that you pry from inside and should lift out. Doesn’t want to budge and l don’t want to force it. Am l on the right track ? Thanks.
Agree with topbox / off the stand. Hence removal. Melbourne winters don’t get that cold - rare bad day might be 8-10degrees celsius. Mostly 13-16. Battery faultless.

Metzeler ME888 on front ( had to replace Commander 3 which had 13,000kms and still probably another 3-4 k . When buying 2nd hand bikes in Australia, tyre has to have more than 1.5 mm of rubber above wear markers ). Rear Commander still plenty of life. Metzeler ME888 front tyre a lot quieter...
Also noticed no speakers in rear bag lids ; does your topbox have the requisite speakers that earlier Transcontinentals had ?
Cost cutting on BMW’s behalf ? Possibly different levels of features for different markets ?
If you don’t utilise the Topbox remove it and bikes definitely feels less top heavy - approx 19kg. Just buy a B6 led stop light from Aliexpress and easy to wire in. Stops codes being thrown. I’m also thinking about removing pannier speakers and those in the pods under front fairing for less...
Each badge has 2 Torx screws ( can’t remember if T10 or T15 ). You don’t have to remove engine cover. Perhaps spray some penetrating fluid . I’ve changed front engine cover and it takes 2-3 hours ( see Ulrich’s video on this site for removal - recommended). Photos of each side of engine cover...
