With the outex kit you can cut and remove the tape over the spokes you need to tighten. They give you extra tape to splice back in. Or I guess you could just spend another 70$ and redo the whole rim. Considering what you would spend for a new tube it's not a bad deal at all especially knowing...

I bought the outex kit for my africa twin and am having good luck so far. I have a royal enfield with spokes and will probably do the same for it. Definitely nice to not have to deal with tubes

I got the same back rest and it's definitely a quality piece. Quick detachability is nice. I cut the pad down and had it covered to match my custom seats

I removed mine on my base r18 and have yet to notice any difference. I removed it to add the fork covers I got off ebay that didn't have the cut outs for a steering dampner. If I had a b or tc I personally would not remove it because of the big fairing sitting on the forks, but on a base r18...

Agreed. For me, having the taller seat, bars in the right position and suspension adjusted made a world of difference

That will be too late as I plan on pulling mine off tonight. Does it hit when the kickstand is up or down? And is it small enough of a contact I could just notch it out with a disc Sander so it would clear? I don't mind touching it up since mine is black and not chrome

One more question, I'm assuming the shifter lever will bolt right up to the other side of the shifter arm I have circled in the pic? I won't need to remove that too?
