I did take the cover off for a quick look, but could not see anything disconnected. The dealer is only 3km away, so no big drama getting the bike there.
I had 2 bikes done. No issues initially. Since getting my bikes back, I discovered the Bobbers charging port no longer works (near the reverse lever). I know it is not the Optima 4 charger at fault, as that still works on the Bagger. The Bobber will go back next week to get that looked at.
My understanding is that the Optimate 6 is not a can-bus charger, so it will not work by connecting it to the port next to the reverse gear. The Optimate 4 is the correct charger to use on the BMW port.
After first hearing about the reverse recall, I contacted the dealer, asked about the compensation, then had the recall disconnected and got 3 years free servicing on both my R18's. The repair has now been done. Approx. 1 month ago, I received the official recall letter. So, had I not contacted...
In all fairness to the tyre shop, Sometimes the rear wheel removal and installing can be time consuming.....removing the mufflers and in some cases the rear fender. You can't expect them to do it for free, and it isn't a 5 minute job.
I don't have an answer to your issue, but I did find this which discusses the limp mode on the R18 when a full exhaust system has been swapped. Hope it helps...
That is odd. I had my 2 bikes done in one day last week. The first bike included the annual inspection, and was completed at 12:30. I then swapped the bikes over, and the second bike was completed at 15:30.
I had my 2 bikes in today to get the reverse re-activated. I asked what was involved in the job. The module that is susceptible to moisture, doesn't get touched. The fix is fitting the cables along with a relay, and the software update. So, does that mean moisture can still get into the module?
My bike came with the BMW Bobber kit fitted. I was never comfortable on the factory Bobber seat. It felt like I was sitting really high in the air. I thn changed the seat to a lower seat. Happy with it now.
first pic is when I bought it. Second pic is with the lower seat.
