Well first longish run done, 998km now on the clock. Bike ran well, bit bumpy in front for some or other reason ( I must re check the tyre pressure, think the filling station gauge may be in accurate).........but, ah the seat. Was happy to see home after the two 260km runs. For once I am going...
I'm sorted, put the bike on a makeshift spacer under the sidestand. With the bike almost upright could check oil level visually. Added some oil, about 500ml to lift level from bottom to top of circle so I am pretty sure that engine is not overfilled. Engine oil level seems to remain constant...
Hello all, this may just be a re hash of a topic that is somewhere to be found on the forum but what I want to know is, is there a quick way to check the engine oil level? Can one do it in the morning before starting the engine, mine showed at the bottom of the ring last night, started engine...
Anyone here bothered to put a tank pad onto their R 18, If so show a pic or two. I'm considering ordering a custom made one but it wasn't in my plans when I got the bike. Just thinking there's a lot of exposed paintwork for something unexpected to damage.
Simple question I think, do the R18 1st Edition bikes have "Adaptive Lighting " headlights" I don't really ride after dark so I wouldn't know the difference. I've tried to see if there are a extra leds in there somewhere but again not sure what I am looking for. I saw something about the...
I turned my adjuster all the way anti clockwise till it stopped. Going clockwise there must have been around 1 1/2 to 2 turns before I could feel resistance. Took it 10 turns from there, pretty much sure that was the correct way.
Have my ( sold here as) new 2023 First Edition, 42km on the clock. Out of curiosity I decided to check my preload settings, lo and behold preload not adjusted at all. Took up slack and adjusted 10 turns, bikes tail must have lifted 15mm or so. Maybe 10 turns too much but I will see when I get...
I had all the service intervals reset last Saturday ( Spanner and triangle were showing), now yearly and 10 000km so that shouldn't have been a problem. I done a dash factory reset not sure if that helped, anyway time will tell, hopefully I only see the spanner again this time next year.
I collected my bike from BMW this morning after them doing the reverse recall ( I did test the reverse function while I was there) and after leaving them I was scrolling through the menu and the same warning spanner appeared on the display. Turned around and went back to BMW, took them 1/2 an...
Got me a new 2023 ( year this bike was dealer registered in SA) 1st Edition ( not the Classic), half the original retail price which makes it something of a bargain for a new bike here in South Africa. Got a whole 320km on the clock now. reverse recall done, now looking forward to putting some...
Had my 1st Edition in for the reverse gear recall, even tried it in the BMW workshop for the 1st time. Not for me but handy to have I suppose. What was interesting, after I left the workshop and scrolling through the menu at the traffic lights a warning spanner appeared, no triangle on dash. I...
