A few people have been scammed on the site, Only use paypal to pay for items for sale by other members. If they will not use paypal, its likely a scam NEVER SEND E-TRANSFERS OF ANY KIND.
It is u=indeed a mechanical issue; BNW has a PUMA on it and your bike needs a new left piston. They are going to try to tell you a magic story about how elves will cure the problem as you ride it. It's nonsense and it took almost a year to get it fixed.
BMW quality is the same as anyone elses. Its a new design and they have issues. Now, with this bike, I'm amazed at how poor customer service and parts availability for warranty repairs happen; but with 400,000 plus miles in on a BMW bike, I can tell ya they are not magic, nor more reliable...
I am a GS rider by nature and have worn the Arai X4. Best helmet and best company to deal with ever! Before he retired if he was at a show, Bruce Porter would stop everything to custom fit a hard to fit rider (like me) Their passion for their product is amazing; Porter could measure your...
Back in the day I took a factory tour and the specially trained ladies re did the pinstripes on my R75! It was a real treat to watch them do it. Yes, the pinstripes are done by hand and I would not have considered any vintage style BMW that is not black with white pinstripes. Because I'm...
Did the final dial in of the suspension. It is now as good as it gets I think. Ordered $100 worth of air filter, Motul 15w50, and 70w80 GL5 gear oil for the 600 mile service. Much cheaper than the insane prices BMW wants and I have double checked... it is the exact same thing.
So, I put on the weekender seat today. Things are getting better; it only took a month from order to door for mine from Sierra BMW (By the way, long term BMW owner's advice only use the gigantic dealers to order parts. They actually show up) So... the seat is on. It does muck with the...
It's all about reasonableness; the whole small parts are in germany thing is BS; They didn't sell a lot of these bikes and spares can easily be air shipped... even at low cost. There is no excuse, other than the quality of service is extremely bad. They have released a string of flops...
So, at a shade over 6’2 I wanted a touring windshield. I don’t plan on using a windshield much but I wanted an option for long trips on the slab.
I put on the Puig new touring with the R18 hardware. Then I added my wunderlich windshield spoiler I use to solve head buffet on the GS...
It's an awful flop; they are discounting the bikes like crazy. I can only give you one indicator of the PanAmerica's success and why Harley loves it. OK, two
A. I've owned almost every iteration of the GS. There is noone who loves it more, and
B. It took Harley an hour to convince me...
I have always had the bike. even the leaking clutch cable... I zip tied a paper towel to it and kept an eye on it. I ride them unless they don't ride :-).
Aftermarket accessories for the R18 are hard to find and expensive. It won't get better because the bike really flopped. But, it is a gorgeous bike and the accessories are nice.
I got a windshield for $229 from puig, I did buy the Weekender seat... but it is no more or less expensive than...
so, order a wheel choc from harbor freight. Problem solved. I keep my R18 in my garage fully upright. New BMW boxers used some oil, mine used a lot because of a known defect. You will need to check less often soon and if you have a front wheel stand its a snap. Keep it topped off warm...
Well, Luis; The day after I bought the bike it started spewing smoke... and I mean a lot of smoke, out of the left cylinder. Clearly something was permitting a lot of oil to seep through the left cylinder and then when the bike was started or when it felt like it, oil would burn through the...
Sooo.... BMW of North America has come to their senses after 8 months of hemming and hawing and finally done the right thing (enough) and I actually will be keeping my bike. SOme observations on the final resolution:
A. BMW North America customer service is perhaps the worst customer service...
