My dream is to wait until there just aren’t anymore people willing to buy the homage seat and mount. I can get the seat now for $125… but the mounting bracket is still $400 :-)
There are tons of available accessories even if they stopped making them. $800 for those valve covers (the only piece I really want) is just insane and I ain’t paying it. I saw a TC at a hot dog stand here in Ohio with them… I thought “to heck with the brotherhood of cycling.. he’ll like my...
I’m old :-)… my GS-911 did not plug into the ECU reader on my R18. I got a simple Bluetooth reader, the moto scan app and since its android only I got a $29 android tablet from Amazon. I’m really quite pleased, it has full service capability and makes resets a 5 minute process (it takes a...
I have 25,000 miles on my R18 now and the shock is finally broken in. Simply, it is way to stiff for places where the roads are less than perfect and to get the aesthetic they wanted the shock has very little travel. But it gets better as the spring wears. I will eventually put a Wilbers...
I really don’t think it’s fully baked and it’s too complex. I mirror other posters. I wouldn’t really want one but I am going to replace my GS with an AFrica twin most likely. I am going to get a manual but I do trust their DCT. When I was young I had a racing bike (Husqvarna) with a...
Thus the BMW shop manual. It instructs usually 170 to 175 ml of fluid. I have always used 175 or 170 when I refill, depending on the bike. The whole thing is under tremendous pressure. Under filling a teeny bit is far better than overfilling one single ml.
A couple of years ago I got the Vance and Hines pipes at an extremely low price (like $250). You just have to keep your eyes peeled. Wait a few years… BMW dealers will get sick of having to on their shelves. I’m a buyer on the Roland Sands Valve covers at $250 :-)
As a long time BMW rider I can just say that BMW final drives are really good… unless they are not. QC on them over the last 20 years has become non-existent. So the R18 already came pre-disastered. They were not lubricated properly. They fixed that.
I think I have about 150,000 miles...
It’s just mineral oil, BMW’s is actually pretty cheap. I don’t use any because I had my clutch lines replaced under warranty when the bike was new but its just mineral oil clutch fluid
