I have the machined covers for the cylinders and front engine cover with the two-tone covers on my reservoir and I actually like the look--they don't seem mismatched all to me as they are all the same black and white colors. Personally, I would put them on and see if you just get used to it...
I have a had my box off a couple times fixing a malfunctioning latch. It's just 4 larger bolts inside of rubber spacers with large washers that secure the whole top box to the support. I would try to tighten the large Torx bolts to see if you can get it to be more snug. I never had an issue...
I drilled out some more holes for air in the snorkel, didn't notice anymore noise really. I had an OEM air filter for replacement so just added the extra holes to try to free up some more airflow for now...
The engine cover is probably so deeply discounted because they weren't selling, not an easy install and would be quite expensive if you are paying the dealer to install it.
I have the same issue as the OP, for me it's my size 12 feet that make it so I don't have a comfortable foot position that doesn't cover both front and rear shifters. I may try one of these products as I can't seem to find anything else:
Adjustable front and heal shifters
Adjustable front and...
I couldn't find any instructions, but it's very simple--I used a flathead screwdriver with some tape over (so it didn't scratch anything) then push in as you pull up at the bottom of the switch, do each side carefully and it will lift up. The new one just pushes on...
I have the indicator switch installed, just did a long ride today--made a big difference but as I said in an earlier post I have the wheel and I recommended it for any riders with a wheel. I don't have a wheel on my R Nine T and did not bother with moving the indicator closer to my thumb. I...
The front cover sure is a lot different install experience than the cylinder covers--those take less than 2 min, ha! I took my time and had a couple beers so the front cover took me about 4 hours (mine is a TC, so had a few extra parts to remove as well)
Installed the split version of the Denali Sound Bomb horn. I have had it for years on my R Nine T and loved it, easy decision to add one to the R18. I love how loud it is and it really gets the attention of cagers on the freeways in Houston if needed. I'm happy with the horn side but the pump...
I have one on my R Nine T, it definitely seem strong-always starts even when stored for awhile. Only issue I have is it doesn't like to trickle charge, I can charge it up with my Norco charger or another one I have no problem but once it's charged up, they go into an error mode.

This is the way, connect to Auxiliary power via the repair wire connection--works perfectly. I also have the 2 bare wire version.
Curious, where does your foot tend to rest? I have size 12 feet and find it awkward and don't know where to rest my foot. I end up resting my heal on the shifter but then need to hold my foot up slightly which isn't that comfortable after a long distance. My foot doesn't fit in between the...
Probably the easiest "mod" I've done on her so far, and possibly my most appreciated one. This is a new turn signal button from DK Designs that moves the button to the left. I highly recommend this for anyone with a "wonder wheel" on their bike. On my R18 I always felt like I had to reach for...
I changed mine on my R Nine T to a Gilles that accepts an Allen, probably going to do the same for the R18 (except probably a cheaper version since the cap isn't visible and doesn't need to be "pretty")--hate the stupid special tool BMW uses...
I ended up removing the whole box with the four large bolts underneath. There were 6 small screws under the box that were hard to reach and possibly impossible to reach without removing the box. Ordered the lock actuator, hoping that is indeed the reason my latch isn't working--it's a much...
