I took delivery Saturday, July 15 in New Milford, CT. It was a thrill to arrive at the dealer and see Black Swan sitting in front of the shop with a sold sign hanging from the handlebars. The dealer loaded the Connect app on my phone, demonstrated the R18's features and I saddled up for a 3500...
Yahoo! Heading for the Adirondack Mountains tomorrow on the TC. I worked with my dealer
the past few days, and when I arrived this morning in New Milford, Black Beauty was sitting at
the front door with a SOLD sign hanging from the right grip.
What a beautiful sight.
I'm used to the weight of...
I'm trying to have my out-the-door cost squared with the abundant 2023 R18 deals amongst
BMW dealers.
BigJimSlim, could you share your dealer's name? I found a mineral white 2023 in Fort Myers, FL, that was posted for $21,500.00.
Unbelievable! Someone beat me to the punch, though, by mere...
Good news
I've inserted several different R18 VINs in the Motorrad safety website. They all came back saying, "a remedy is available."
I submitted VINs from all corners of the country. An R18 that caught my eye in FT. Meyers, FL, with the deal of the century, was bought out from under me...
The sun is shining but I won't be riding the my shiny R1800 TC to Americade this weekend. But, GOOD NEWS, it appears she'll be ready for a cross-country romp the middle of this month. Check your R18 VIN here:

Thanks so much for the update. I contacted my dealer with the good news and he had left a voice message for me at the same. Maybe it's true that "good things happen fior those who wait."
I want to get a comfort sear, pinstriping, and a phone that works with the infotainment system in preparation...
My apologies for the delay. I was set to pull the trigger when BMW posted a stop-sale
on all dealership R18s. The defective headlamp issue stopped me from purchasing my R18.
Some say the remedy won't happen until August. I'm starting to rethink bringing an R18
into the stable with James Bond...
Thanks so much for the update. It's frustrating and bewildering to not have heard an official announcement from BMW. I had to pull the trigger and order a new Corbin saddle for my 2019 K1600 GA (the stock saddle is going up for sale). It's getting too close for a cross country trip the second...
Great question! Another question is prompted: if BMW
has a fix, why is the stop-sale continuing with no end in sight?
I checked a few minutes ago--10:30 amEST--and we are still at a standstill.
:unsure::unsure::unsure:
I'm thankful for the protection the federal law affords, but how long does something like this take to fix? The official recall seems to be dated December 2023, but there are R18 owners who reported having had the headlamp problem months earlier. What's going on behind OZ's curtain?
There are a significant number of riders on the R1800 forum who are riding there big boxers. I hope and pray nobody gets injured due to the headlight defect. Meanwhile, I'll have a cup of tea please.

I'm fortunate to have a dealer and salesperson who are top notch and are rider-centered.
I spoke with my salesperson today about the stop-sale. He empathized with my disappointment and apologized for the lack of updates.
Bottom line, I still want the R1800 Transcontinental to take it's place in...
Nice! Fantastic job mate. 👍🏽
Tricky operation for the mechanically advantaged, but totally worth pursuing.
With your floorboards and a proper seat, I think at 68, I'm ready for another cross country trek.
