Update...Dealer installed new relay and bracket no charge. Apparently this is a known problem and the fix is to zip tie it so it doesn't come loose. For those that have had this recall done, might be worth it to zip it in place before it comes out on its own.
Talked with the dealer, and it is the reverse relay. They said the plastic housing vibrated to where it turned and fell out of its mounting hole. They're ordering a new bracket along with the relay. Part of the fix is to zip tie it to where it won't rotate and come out again.
Haven't...
Does anyone know what this relay may be for? Somehow is came off and has been dragging for a short while. The last work I had done on the bike was the recall for the reverse unit. In the recall letter from BMW, they state "An electrical relay will be inserted between the battery and the...
No, I'm not aware of BMW offering any. I believe they are all aftermarket. The one's I bought online were likely made in China, but were actually pretty good. They fit rather nicely, no issues.
Here are a couple links I wrote for installing TC bars on my Classic. Depending on how much reach you are wanting, you might first try the 2" extenders that many others have installed. And for an additional bit of reach, you can install the Wunderlich 1" risers which will rise the bars up, but...
These were made for the BMW beach bars and were too long for the handlebars I was using. I modifed and installed handlebars from the Transcontinental and went with shorter lines. I'm in Oklahoma
If your bike came with floorboards, you can not use the Wunderlich footpegs without major modification and expense, but you can use the BMW flatpegs that come on the R18B and TC. Here's a prior thread on this...
After a month at the dealer, just got my bike back this week for the Recall. I was afraid they'd get the fix in before getting it back and then rescind the $1k credit offer. Was able to get a new Weekender seat with it. FYI, as of last week there were only 4 left in the country in case anyone...
Just received my reverse recall this week, but no mention of any compensation. Mentioned on this forum, some folks says their are offered a $1000 credit and others 4 or 5% of what they paid for the bike. Is this compensation up to each individual dealer and something you have to negotiate, or...
Awhile back I did a write-up of installing the Transcontinental handlebars onto my Classic which added approx 4.5" of reach.

Thought I'd do a follow up...
These part numbers are for the BMW Beach bars and not the handlebars I was installing and therefore too long. I couldn't return to dealer since they were out of the package and technically used. If interested let me know.
Here are the part numbers you can get online or from dealer: Left peg 46711599109 Right peg 46711599110 and return spring needed (qty 2) 46718392729. These are the flat style pegs.
Here are some of the details and parts I used for this swap. The handlebars I got from were from a fellow member online who replaced his TC bars with Helibars. BMW p/n for the chrome TC bars is 32719443364 ($521). I believe the R18B bars are the same, just black instead of chrome p/n...
You can see in the first picture, the splines on the TC bar need to be cut further in about 19mm's for the clamp to fully cover. The knurling tool I used to cut the splines worked out pretty good, but you'll definitely want to try it out on a piece of pipe or something first. I added some...
