Good job on the bike.
Side covers never had pin striping but tank & rear fender do on 1st Editions.
With the side covers be very careful to make sure they are properly reattached should you remove them. Several of us here have lost one (usually the right side) & they are around $100 unpainted...
This stuff is on the UK eBay but I think they are salvagers so will probably ship internationally

My Motorrad dealer has emailed to say that they’ve had the recall notice for the fix, have ordered in the parts & will let me know when they have them. Watch this space!
When I took my GS in on Fridayfor warranty work I asked about the reverse fix. They hadn’t heard anything but did say that the Mothership filter fixes through so that dealers & the network aren’t inundated which makes sense. Frustrating but now we know our bikes will be fixed soon.
Mine came unpainted so factor that in & without the “R18 First Edition” badge-that was extra.
When you attach the replacement make sure you lubricate the rubber grommets that hold it on. I use silicon spray. Otherwise they pucker up & you think everything is ok. Go for a ride & the vibration...
I had a Carpuride 702B on my GS. 7” screen that fitted straight into BMW Nav cradle. It was good but after 6 months or so parts of the screen became unresponsive that meant you couldn’t use the search on Waze. All the firm/software was up to date & resetting it made no difference. Also any...
There is a recall on the reverser so if you’re buying from BMW Motorrad it will probably already have been disconnected. There is a fix in the pipeline rumoured to be ready in the new year. Mine is going for its first MoT on Monday & the reverser will be disconnected. I don’t use the reverser...
Probably the fuel pump quick release connector. I’m sure they are the same as nearly every BMW bike in that they’re made of plastic & go brittle over time. You can get a metal replacement. I replaced the one on my K1600. Not sure how much of a job it is on your bike.
This one is on Ali Express...
Took my Classic in for its first MoT today & the recall work. I asked about a fix for the reverser & they knew nothing. I asked about the compensation & they knew nothing! But after fishing around on his laptop the service manager found something. It didn’t state the sum of compensation but did...
I regularly meet up with a mate for a pootle & some lunch then we go to a Harley dealer & enjoy their free coffee. He has an HD he bought from them so knows the guys there. My experience of HD’s goes back years when I helped rebuild a baby Sportster & later test rode an XR1200. Couldn’t get off...
Hmmm!
Maybe I should get one. I’m guessing that no-one has experienced the extension rattling/vibrating?
I note that one person found the Chinese made extender wasn’t the best fit but has anyone else found this?
Thanks.
I can’t really see the point of them. I barely have to lean to operate my stock reverse lever & I can see an extended one just getting in the way & probably creating an annoying vibration. But others may think differently!
BMW fuel tank connectors have always been crap. I replaced the one on my K1600GT as a matter of course. Over time the nylon the originals are made from gets brittle which isn’t normally a problem until you go to remove the tank or even knock the pipework whilst doing another job.
You’d expect...
You’re not alone in losing the side panel. If you aren’t really careful refitting them they fall off😡! bought a replacement from BMW earlier this year. Cost around £90 with the badge but no new grommets so I paid another £10ish for them! Also panel is unpainted. After fucking up mine with. a...
