I'm not sure about the R18B, but I'll say the R18 Classic had enough buffeting to lift my jacket at times. I installed a set of Memphis Shades fork deflectors, and now it's a calm as can be at all legal speeds.
It's not just the R18... it's ANY cruiser that's not Harley (and maybe Indian).
All the Japanese cruisers disappeared when the EPA started clamping down on emissions... It wasn't worth the hassle of making those giant, air cooled lumps meet regulations.
These days, you can pick up a used...
Considering the engine & transmission for the R18 comes in at 109 kg by itself...
It's gonna be tough to build a bike around it for less than 130 more.
Good point on having a thermostat with the cooler...
The R1200C (and various 1100/1150 variants) were also oil cooled, but I'm not sure if they were thermostatically controlled... I'm gonna have to do some research on that one.

I use the 20W-50 on that bike since it's RARELY below freezing in South Louisiana, often 100+ mid summer. Plus, I...
Your valve cover damage doesn't look overly harsh... It might be worth a try to sand/buff it out a bit and redo the powder coating.
Glad you're OK and were able to lift without TOO much trouble!!
Our local Cycle Gear installed permanent steel plates in the motorcycle parking area.
Of course, down here, a hot day is every day between June 1 and August 30... I guess they didn't want to pay a guy for 3 months of running around & handing out the plastic plates.
Back in the day, I would collect a few sticks found near the parking spot and put them under the kickstand. That would get a little dodgy if the ground was REALLY soft and the kickstand would slowly sink into the ground while I walked around finding a few sticks. I'd sometimes have to find...
Does anyone have a Weekender seat & backrest (for a '22 Classic) and willing to measure the mounting bar on the backrest?
I need to know the size of the flat bar pointed to below (width and thickness) to see if I can modify a backrest I already have for another bike.
