Vance and Hines pipes on sale at BMW

My dream is to wait until there just aren’t anymore people willing to buy the homage seat and mount. I can get the seat now for $125… but the mounting bracket is still $400 :-)

R20 almost prod ready it seems

Bigger than a Subaru motor. I really liked the retro bike, despite the ridiculous motor. This is just, well… an R20 I guess :-)

    Rolands Sands Accessories

There are tons of available accessories even if they stopped making them. $800 for those valve covers (the only piece I really want) is just insane and I ain’t paying it. I saw a TC at a hot dog stand here in Ohio with them… I thought “to heck with the brotherhood of cycling.. he’ll like my...

Motoscan and the dreaded wrench icon

Yep, I was about to say it’s a little tricky to rest the values with Motoscan. It took me three tries to get the light off

    Splines not lubricated from factory!

Not a recall but a service advisory, they did mine when the recall for the reverse was fixed

Vance and Hines pipes on sale at BMW

I got the chrome Vance and Hines from a shop in Michigan for $399. I yoinked the baffles out and they sound good

Is it possible to reset service warning

I’m old :-)… my GS-911 did not plug into the ECU reader on my R18. I got a simple Bluetooth reader, the moto scan app and since its android only I got a $29 android tablet from Amazon. I’m really quite pleased, it has full service capability and makes resets a 5 minute process (it takes a...

    Stiff rear suspension

I have 25,000 miles on my R18 now and the shock is finally broken in. Simply, it is way to stiff for places where the roads are less than perfect and to get the aesthetic they wanted the shock has very little travel. But it gets better as the spring wears. I will eventually put a Wilbers...

    The no clutch motorcycle

I really don’t think it’s fully baked and it’s too complex. I mirror other posters. I wouldn’t really want one but I am going to replace my GS with an AFrica twin most likely. I am going to get a manual but I do trust their DCT. When I was young I had a racing bike (Husqvarna) with a...

    BMW / OEM Accessories Withdrawal

It is a BMW dealer, there is a big chance unless it is a massive dealer it will never discount anything… ever :-)

Poll about Final Drive (Bevel Gear) Oil Spillage on the rim and tyre

Thus the BMW shop manual. It instructs usually 170 to 175 ml of fluid. I have always used 175 or 170 when I refill, depending on the bike. The whole thing is under tremendous pressure. Under filling a teeny bit is far better than overfilling one single ml.

    BMW / OEM Accessories Withdrawal

I just checked BMW of Grand Rapids (where I got my pipes) already has them for $899. I might go for it at $599

    BMW / OEM Accessories Withdrawal

A couple of years ago I got the Vance and Hines pipes at an extremely low price (like $250). You just have to keep your eyes peeled. Wait a few years… BMW dealers will get sick of having to on their shelves. I’m a buyer on the Roland Sands Valve covers at $250 :-)

Poll about Final Drive (Bevel Gear) Oil Spillage on the rim and tyre

OK… maybe not catch on fire… models with a rubber boot on the end can catch fire :-). But you get the picture

Poll about Final Drive (Bevel Gear) Oil Spillage on the rim and tyre

As a long time BMW rider I can just say that BMW final drives are really good… unless they are not. QC on them over the last 20 years has become non-existent. So the R18 already came pre-disastered. They were not lubricated properly. They fixed that. I think I have about 150,000 miles...

    BMW / OEM Accessories Withdrawal

They cut the price on the homage seat to $125!… now they want $700 for the mounting bracket. They can keep it :-).

    My 10cts

I can’t even start to imagine what it would cost to make that bike today :-)

    Clutch Fluid Choices

It’s just mineral oil, BMW’s is actually pretty cheap. I don’t use any because I had my clutch lines replaced under warranty when the bike was new but its just mineral oil clutch fluid
