There are other threads on this forum regarding software updates. Dealerships are refusing to do them because the update locks up a stall for hours while no work is being done to the bike. Dealerships are also charging for the time it takes to complete and update...
For what it’s worth, I am an Apple user, and I bought a used Samsung to see if Android would be more stable, and it wasn’t. It connected quicker, but it disconnected just as often. The Samsung was WiFi only, no cell service, used only for the BMW app.
BMW can’t even update the app without...
If you're only looking for Nav and music - go for something better than the god-awful BMW Connected. It is the only thing on my bike that I truly hate. It's crapped out on me on several pre-planned roadtrips, forcing me to pull-over and restart the bike and the app (which doesn't always work)...
The light on mine flickers right in front of the bike, a foot or two in front of the wheel, but the beam seems solid and stable ahead of me. The adaptive mechanism appears to be working on mine as well, so maybe the flickering is normal - or a sign it’s about to die.
The Connected App was updated for the iPhone 4 days ago, and the maps have improved quite a bit. I haven't had much experience with it yet, but it looks like there is finally real-time rerouting for traffic issues, the symbols are much more apparent. The map file sizes are larger than before...
I never liked photochromatic lenses because they don't tint in the car - or behind anything that blocks enough UV light to prevent them from darkening.
I just ordered a try-on kit from flyingeyesoptics.com for prescription lenses with clip-ons. My current prescription sunglasses are badly out...
I can see if updates introduced a whole new operating system, holding off for future versions is prudent to allow time for developers to work out the bugs.
For the TC and Bagger, updates that are coming from the BMW are for known ECU and tech issues. They are updating something for a reason...
Well actually... /s
The manual says that setting 5 for the heated grips and seat is for quick heating, and the level should be set to where you want it after it's reached temp. I can't imagine leaving the grips on anything more than two, but on cold rides (upper 30s), I've kept the seat at 5.
I fill up with the bike on the stand, tilted toward the pump, to make things easier to see and maneuver without having to drape the hose over the bike.
I’m in Sacramento.
I am in CA, and have one of these (link below). Works perfectly. I fill the tank until fuel just starts to splash around the inner collar, and I register a full tank every time.
I ignore the warning light since it seems to come on when the actual gauge still shows quarter of a tank. Even when...
I got my bike back today after the update, and the repair order for the update said ABS, AUDIO, DME, DWA, ESA, EWS, GM, GMS, KOMBI.
The service writer was not familiar with all of the codes - or what parameters were changed. I have not had chance to ride the bike to see if I can tell a...
It goes further than doing your own maintenance. I bought the engine guards and leg rests from my my local BMW dealer. The parts parts were delivered about a month a part - engine guards first. The parts do not come with an installation manual, but the service guy was kind enough to print them...
The cable I use is a Ugreen 90 degree USB C to Lighting cable. I bought the 3’ cable from Amazon For $17. Their website has it a bit cheaper.
It works, but the cable is long - nothing a zip tie didn’t fix.

I took delivery of OEM crash bars for my bagger. They are the same bars that fit the other models. There is a bolt hole behind the steering damper they bolt into. The bolt is just *this* much too long for the bars, and the damper needs removed for installation. Regardless, it looks like an easy...
Today must have been my lucky day, on the way home an accident must have just happened, and the Connected App displayed both a yellow and brown, and a red on red striped pattern with a white exclamation mark. A few minutes later it turned into just a red on red pattern with an accident symbol...
I've searched TomTom and BMW Motorrad Connected sites, and didn't find my info, so maybe with our combined knowledge this thread can become the User's Guide that BMW didn't bother creating for their own !@#$% product.
I created a route today and on the app the route showed a '2' with blue and...
