As with anything - selling is down to very simple rules.
Get it cleaned up, photgraphed well, and advertised in the normal channels.
From there it is 1 thing & 1 thing only - PRICE.
There is a buyer for everything if the price is right. Sounds simple, and it is.
If you are advertised widely...
I went from the high/comfort seat (standard fit on the r18c) to the cross country.
40 minutes max on the comfort seat until I got bad back pains that lasted a week after the ride.
No problem running for 3+ hours on the cross country.
Great - so stop upsetting yourself drooling over the r18c :)
Happiness is buying the bike you want right now - THEN TURN OFF THE INTERNETS & WALK AWAY.
You are gonna love it!
From what I can see the optimate 4 canbus version does a great job.
The main difference that is obvious between this & the BMW unit, is that the BMW charger spells it out in words & %s as to what it is doing in the charge cycle. The optimate has colour coded lights.
Also, I would say that the...
For me I like the looks of the classic - I wanted the bags, the screen, the extra lights.
Kindof reminds me of a 1970s california highway patrol bike from CHiPs (remember that show?).
With the classic, you can always pull the bits off & turn it back into a 'pure' base model for when you want...
I stand behind the pig comment at low speed. But no more than any other 350kg bike is a pig at low speed maneuvers - you need to learn it & gain confidence.
But next to all other lighter bikes..... yeh it's a pig. It feels slow to turn in, then tippy.
Don't get me wrong, I have an r18 & love...
Seat is horrible on the FE bikes (& the classic TBH) - so if planning to ride longer than an hour, bufget for something else to swap out.
I love my r18 - it is unique & special & different.
At the price you can get it for, I would jump on it. I don't think there are many left with this kind of...
The genuince BMW charger is available for much the same money - if not cheaper than the optimate v4.
I got mine brand new from a BMW dealer via ebay for something like £60.
I got the feeling that there was nothing inside my cheaper battery chargers (from the 1980s) other than a resistor or 2 & an LED if I was lucky.
Looks like actual electronics managing the charge cycle... thanks for sharing.
Don't go letting a $100 freebie item spoil your enjoyment of a $20k bike.
I got a freebie box with mine, never opened it. If you get stuck, you can have mine no worries.
Don't wanna start anything, but I got a free coffee & a biscuit also when I picked mine up.
A genuine canbus charger will 'wake up' the plug & communicate with the bike, then charge it up. No need to catch it within 30 seconds :)
I charge all the bikes each weekend (just in case) and never switch them on first to prime the canbus. After being bitten by a poor battery once or twice...
Klim marrakesh jacket is a master stroke in the heat - most comfortable high airflow jacket I ever did see.
Not cheap, but after trying maybe a dozen others, would not go back.
Couple it up with either klim induction gloves, or the rukka forsair mesh gloves - really nice on the hot days
After reading this all the way through, I'm pretty confused.
Turning the adjuster all the way anti clockwise sets the minimum possible preload for the shock - how can that be the 'shipping' position?
In this position, the bike will move around / bounce the absolute most possible & the bike be...
Just got my cross country seat after waiting 3 months - really pleased with it.
Few things - it's not as mahoosive as it looks in photos, yes it is bigger, but not enormous. Does not look out of place on a classic / anything with bags IMHO.
It is quite firm, definitely not 'cushy / wallowy'...
Seems there is no huge advantage to polycarbonate vs acrylic for windshields - looking around the research online, polycarb is definately the harder material, but is it takes a big impact it is still screwed just like the acrylic.
Acrylic has the advantage of UV protection (so longevity of...
