I had the same problem but fixed it by bending the contacts closer the the rim of the battery. So I agree 100% with JeffwithG.

I have these as well and they have the same gap. Ridden about 10,000 miles with no problems.

I've got about 10,000 miles on my '22 FE. I did a 6,000 mile loop last summer. Seat no problem - it's easy to ride through a full tank.. Suspension no problem - I read the manual, I adjusted the shock. Too easy. Wonderful bike. No more HD Low Rider.

Welcome kits came with each bike and we're specific to the VIN numbers. I got mine from the dealer with the bike.

I totally agree: the German engineering and design is still there but the assembly is sloppy; I too have very low torqued bolts.
