Very much agreed! I test rode both a Street Glide and a Road Glide, totalling 250 miles, before buying my RG. Apparently it was the longest demo in the history of that dealership xD.
I ride a Road Glide Special currently, as well as a GSA and several other bikes. I have ridden a few other HDs as well. But also I've owned three R18 line products including the preordered original First Edition Base model and a Transcontinental.
I love the boxer engine in terms of looks, the...
Wow!! That is a spectacular paint job!
I have that exhaust on my GSA and for my Road Glide. I also heard the R18 ones at the BMW MOA Rally this year here in the States, it's glorious.
Welcome!
I found it difficult to use the rear brake effectively as well. I had to put my foot in an awkward angle, pointed inwards like riding standing on an ADV bike. It works on an ADV bike but on the R18, because of the reach and the floorboard I couldn't change the angle, forwards/backwards, which...
That is very interesting. I found that when I went from the Base model to the TC, it felt easier to handle at lower speeds. TC/Bagger models have shorter wheelbases than Base/C models. I distinctly remember noticing that difference. I guess different strokes for different people though. Just to...
TLDR is your friend 😆.
I figured that there aren't many detailed comparisons from a fan of both bikes.
Usually there is a big bias towards one or the other. If I could, I would own both of them... Especially that white option 719 TC or the 100 year R18 base... They look so dang good.
I have a parallel comparison for you. Transcontinental vs Road Glide Special.
Some context
I ride all brands and all types of motorcycles.
I've owned two Base model First edition R18s and a Transcontinental.
A friend of mine is a general manager at a Harley dealership and offered no limit test...
Genuine leg rests.
Looking for $150 shipped - lower 48 states.
I can work something out if someone wants to pick it up. Location: Fairfax, Virginia.
I loved using them. Selling because I... no longer have a R18.
I considered it but for me it's range is not adequate enough.
I need it to reliably have 50-60 miles of range in the cold.
Reportedly it can dip to low as 50 miles in the cold. With electric vehicles losing range over time... it def won't do for me.
Love the concept though.
Speaking of deals... My jaw dropped when I saw this a few days ago. Someone grab this. That's a First Edition Transcontinental with 110 miles on the odo.
Ooh I see. That seems like a big design flaw to me.
Would you mind posting some pictures of where the obstruction occurs when installing the bar to be lower and closer? Much appreciated!
This is interesting but confusing (due to conflicting info from different sources). Perhaps the angle in which Brodo.Waggins installed his bar has something to do with this.
This photo from Helibar's website seems to suggest that it would be possible to have a closer reach.
Also, this video...
