I am 6ft and had a lot of helmet buffeting with the stock windshield. It was somewhat reduced by installing TC windshield and only in calm air. The lower wind deflectors mounted on the crash bars are what's needed along with winglets to minimize the helmet buffeting.
Owned both. Indian has significantly better ergonomics. Its is more comfortable on the highway. R18B is more stable. Both aren't good for wind protection. R18B fairing / windshield produces terrible buffeting and doesn't protect hands much. I think Indian had slightly better wind protection...
The phone navigation was awful a year ago. Wifi would drop. The program on the phone would quit or disconnect every 40 minutes or so. A dedicated nav unit works 100x better.
It appears BMW is offering a new set of handlebars for R18B and TC called Bagger handlebar. It looks higher and flatter. I am 6ft and stock bars were very uncomfortable / too low for extended riding.
Has anyone installed BMW King Ape 16" handlebars on their Classic? Will they interfere with the windshield? How is the long distance comfort and how tall are you ?
I ride R18 Classic almost every day. Great around town, shorter highway rides. I like it a lot. I did replace the rear shock on the harley. It’s over sprung and appears to be made for two up / heavier riders.
How does R18C compares to the Indian Springfield? Springfield looks like a great long...
I had r18B and traded it in for a Road Glide. I have not ridden TC much. The Road Glide is miles ahead of 18B when it comes to ergonomics. The fairing is way better, absolutely no buffeting I pretty much in any wind conditions. Bagger buffets terribly. I am 6ft and the stock BMW bars dont fit me...
R18 is an art piece. It is looks over function, incredible fit and finish. It is a very pleasant motorcycle with a lot of compromises.
1) Its very heavy 2) U turns take effort 3) stock windshield is terrible 4) cylinders make the bike a bit of an ergonomic nightmare 5) Stock seat looks great...
I could not handle the buffeting and the engine vibration in the handlebars on a trip to South Dakota and traded the r18B for Harley Road Glide. Way more comfortable. Is the TC significantly better than the Bagger when it come to buffeting? I am 6ft, full face Schubert helmet.
