Broke my steering lock key

Hi fellow riders,

I had my key my steering lock and turned my bars. It snapped my key, but the fob is intact and working fine. But looks like the key, snapped the bottom part inside the fob slot.



Can I just order the replacement key or need a full fob replacement? Any suggestions or ideas?

I was able to remove the retaining pin but still the bottom half seems to be wedged a little.

Yikes. I never bother using steering locks on big cruisers. The probability of someone wanting to steal an 800 lb bike is less than the probability of what happened to you.

I think I've seen videos on YouTube on possible ways to remove that but maybe try a glue gun and glue something like a screwdriver to it and see i you can then pull it out slowly.

Update: I removed the battery from the fob, and put in a Ziploc bag and then left in a freezer for 20min. Then sprayed a little WD-40 just on the broken key part and used a pair of tweezers and was able to get it out.

I got this bike used and I only got the main fob and the plastic key. No spare metal key.

I may have to order it through a dealer, and get it cut at a local locksmith.

Do you think the dealer could get it cut for you? I don't know a locksmith that does that kind of key cutting. And what kind of cut key is it called???
