Need Help Cat delete

Howdy folks!
I’ve had my classic R18 for a few months and have already modified the stock mufflers. I now want to delete the catalytic converter.

My dealer here in Sydney has told me they can do it but they do not have the pipe to make it straight through after the delete. Apparently Wunderlich nor BMW make it.

Does anyone know if any aftermarket supplier does?

Anyone here done a cat delete? Can you advise what I need apart from removing the cat, in order to complete the modification?

The bike is out of warranty before anyone starts on it. So I am happy to experiment as I really really don’t like the sound but I like the fishtail classic looks.

How did you modify it?
The cat is built into the muffler in way. So curious to see what you modified first.
 
I'm Adelaide way and have been thinking of doing it. The general approach is to cut open the cat, remove the internals and weld it back up. Not ideal but the simplest and the cat passes an external examination (if that matters). A few on this forum have done that and been happy.

I'm a little bit hesitant as Australia could go more enviro weird and I rather have the original headers set aside, so I'm looking to get a set of unrestricted headers made to mate to my fishtales.

There are a couple of motorbike exhaust places around adelaide... so probally a few your way. The bike seems to cope ok with the mod without a tune (wide band O2 sensors)... though as far as a tune goes there seems little experience here other than the "Bren tune".

Hi mate,
No you don’t need to cut open the muffler to remove the catalytic converter. I’ve confirmed this with the BMW dealer in Sydney. The car sits under the foot pegs, and can be dismantled, but that heaves a gap between the headers and fishtail muffler, which needs done kind of connecting straight through pipe welded in.
What you are talking about in the sustains is removing all the noise deadening stuff that muffles the sound. You could also debaffle if there. But the cat isn’t located in the muffler just to clear that point.

Fwiw... my post is reffering to the cat which is in the header pipe.

Working on the fishtale "tail pipe" is a different thing obviously.

Okay cool, but your original message was talking about cutting open the muffler, that was why it got misunderstood. all good. I'll keep you posted, I am talking to both BMW and a Fabricator.

Thanks for sharing. Sounds epic man!! I love what you've done, wish I had seen this before starting on my fishtail, which Ive debaffled & removed some stuffing but still not even close to this. How much dd the whole system cost you ( without installation labour)?
 
I think it ends up being around 2,300-2,400 by the time it hits the states. No labor cause I own a shop!
