Drop Guards

For anyone else interested in drop guards. I learned of a simple and economical solution yesterday. Shaft collars. I noticed them on a Metropolitan Motor Officer's bike yesterday morning and he sent me the link below.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GT9R4NW?ref_=cm_sw_r_mwn_dp_PPG3HNHBXNRETPK0CF8D

This particular product does not offer the correct size for the R18 engine guard, but there are plenty on Amazon and elsewhere that do. The officer had put them to good use on a cone course with some drops and they held up well and protected the engine and bag guards on his bike with no issues.

I personally ordered the following:

I'll post some photos and my experience once they arrive.

I’ll post pictures when they’re installed. They shouldn’t be too hard to position. The lower corners are the most likely to make contact with the ground. Also, the low cost and simple design makes it easy to add as many as you would like. The motor officer had around ten on his bike.

Ok gracias

I found Motorcycle Drop Guards fit the BMW and match the look. Had the shaft collars and they stuck out like a sore thumb,
plus the drop guards are easily repaired after being damaged from practicing advanced training skills. But to each his own!

I would like a set of drop guards for my transcontinental.

Does anyone know of any drop guards that fit the stock engine guard on the TC.

Does anyone know if a set of drop guards designed for Harley or Indian would fit the TC?
They have the motorcycle drop guards for BMW on the website at motorcycledropguards.com
My buddy just bought a set and they look awesome and blend in very well. I have order a set now as well.

These things always look like crap, once they start getting rusty; not sure if the collar damages the chrome and such on the protection bar itself.

I've seen pieces of hose and helical hose wrapped over the protection bars; not using anything beyond the protection bar, provides me with additional motivation...

I called and spoke with the owner of MotorcycleDropGuards this afternoon. The Harley and Indian drop guards will both work on the R18. I ordered a set today and will post pictures when they arrive.

Hi folks. Shaft collars made from stainless steel by CoastalCollars.com work well and once painted do not look as bad as the Motorcycle Drop Guards. They also can be had for a lot less money. Even in stainless a set of two is only $27. They are also available in 7/8 inch for the rear bag guards. I put two on each side of Wunderlich bars front and rear. By the way this is an American company as well.
