Ah HA! So, depending on each bike's characteristics, there may be a special service stand for each model. Presumably, a stand would support the bike by lifting at the two frame "cradle" members along the bottom. But the width between the frame sections and how high or low they are in relation to the engine's bottom will dictate the design of the stand.
In the "good old days" the bottom of the frame of many bikes was the lowest part of the bike, so a single stand could do the job for many models, even across different brands. A standard stand that works for the majority of HDs worked for my Yamaha Road Star and Roadliner. But it was useless when I bought an Indian Roadmaster, which has NO FRAME MEMBERS under the engine. And it's never a good idea to lift much of the weight of a heavy motorcycle by supporting it on exhaust or engine components. The R18 has a full frame with (removable) "cradles", but they appear to be higher than engine and exhaust components, so it will require a special service stand.
