Like the GS Service Manual it will probably only be available on DVD and in MS Windows format.

BMW AFAIK has NOT released a consumer R18 service manual and does not plan to either. I keep on hoping that our comrades in Eastern Europe "happen" upon an open BMW technician's station and "mistakenly" release a copy into the wild for everyone's benefit.
But, until something happens, a group of people have gotten together and started a website, https://www.r1800wiki.org/en/, which they are referring to as a "wiki" workshop manual of the R18. It's open-sourced, meaning that anyone can submit DIY content. I'm not affiliated, but the site's founder has posted on here before, and I thought it's a great idea to continue sharing around.
