Question Tyres - Bias ply or radial for rear?

I'm coming to the point where I'll be changing tyres and I'm interested to know if anyone has moved away from the bias ply rear option to a radial and what the effects of that change have been.

I know one of the reasons bias ply was specified for the rear was to achieve an authentic handling experience. Is there another reason?

My rear tyre is quite squared off and both are 5 years old and factory fit originals. I'm tempted to move to radial tyres correctly rated for the weight.

Do you like how the bike performs? If you do I’d stick with OE. They must be specified for a reason. A new set of tyres will feel better anyway, they always do.
