2024 BMW R18 Roctane
Hello,

A question for the group. I picked up a set of universal LEDs lights and part of the instructions explains that I need to tap in a yellow wire to act as the ACC wire that will turn on and off with an ignition based wire.

Now, I do not for second feel comfortable taping into any wire on my Roctane due to the can bus system but does anyone has guidance to experience tapping into any of the wires on an R18? Is there a wire I could safely tap into that won't cause issues with the can bus system?1000058485.jpg

Do you own a volt meter or perhaps a 12 V test light; if not, maybe invest in either of the two tools? I would explore any wiring opportunities at the fuse panel located behind the side panels, check under the seat; also, there are other opportunities located under the fuel tank.

Maybe review the BMW installation documents that require the fuel tank to be removed; it's a little tricky, which requires a couple steps in order to avoid breaking a fuel coupling fitting.

Also, search the site - others have already been pretty successful in finding accessory ignition sense power source.

There is a cable under the left side panel for aux equipment which you can use. Another option is to take it from charging socket on the left side. Wunderlich is offering Y split cable with proper connectors. The only problem is that those cables are getting live few seconds after the engine is running (not after the main switch is ON)
It means that you will have +12V available approx. 5-10 seconds after you start the engine.
There should be another cable under the petrol tank, which is prepared for aux lights, but i am not sure if it is on all models. Yellow cable on your picture is for the light switch?
