I've thought about applying a PPF on the fairing, fender and the leading edge of the side cases...

I did most painted parts of the bike plus the windshield, front lights, and chrome fuel tank and top box plates. Now I'm not afraid of rock chips, but more importantly I'm not afraid to wipe down the bike and windshield with a microfiber cloth instead of a full wet wash every time. Now the panniers are also protected from my (and passenger) clumsy feet when climbing on and off.
