Navigation Map Mode not working

I have a 2022 R18TC, The Navigation has been working until about 3 weeks ago. It appears that the BMW Motorrad app on my android phone may have updated. Since when I start the Navigation mode and select Map Mode it take a minute of so to load then end with a WiFi error message on the bike. All other features work. I have reloaded that BMW app on my android phone, I re-paired the bluetooth. My bike TFT software version is 012.007.030. Other that going to the dealership what is my next course of action.

You seem to have done what I would have done.
I don’t have Android, therefore I can’t comment there. Try switching off the WiFi and the Bluetooth and then switch back on. Do start your engine and let the onboard computer do it’s thing and then once the Navigation icon is lit, try entering your destination in the Motorrad app and send to bike and see what happens. Sometimes the full map mode won’t be available but at least you will have the turn by turn version.

I recently struggled with the maps while on a four day trip, due to the app software update happening while on the road; in order to sort things out, I had to perform the following, which actually resulted in a now better performing system when I stream my music and use the navigation:

NOTE: Android OS (Pixel 7 phone)

1. I had to download or update ALL previously downloaded maps. (Use Wi-Fi vs 4G LTE cellular)
2. Wi-Fi issue: I put my phone in Airplane Mode, then restored the wireless use to the phone by switching Airplane Mode to OFF.
3. I found Amazon music to play more reliably than YouTube music; I have downloaded music onto my phone via both streaming platforms, so that I'm not limited to cellular coverage while traveling.
4. Getting On the Road: I start playing my music first on my phone, then I start the BMW Connect App and then finally start the bike, in order to let the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections to be established. All Works Well now, with a much larger map image on the TFT screen.

One of the main issues I have found is starting map mode while your phone is connected to some other WiFi. That is normally what causes mine to not connect, or start map mode. I would also set the ask to join networks to OFF to keep your phone from trying to connect to other WiFi networks that are open

Mapping would not work for me for external reasons. I had a VPN running and that interfered with the WiFi connection. When I turned he VPN off, I could connect and use the Nav. Bluetooth always worked for music.

I did have an issue when the dealer did an upgrade to the bike software. They wiped all connections. I had to reload the app on my phone and set up communications again. (Android).
