Got in today my windshield from 7jurock; 1st time buying from them and I'm impressed with the quality and reasonable pricing.

Got the tallest and darkest windshield for an R18 Classic; I think looking at it now it looks a bit "bare" and could use some contrast at the front.

So I had a spare windshield mounting bracket (courtesy of a fellow member) and drilled out the rivets to pull off the base plate. I think with some longer screws and some rubber on the edges it could make a great ornament to break up the black. What are the groups thoughts on this?

Will definitely have to relocate the turn signals after this (will eventually do so alongside the OEM additional lights from a classic in the near future)

So I managed to score the big piece of the build for a steal. I found a 6 gallon tank from a bagger model for $200!

Will definitely need to be repainted but no dent or leaks. The front mount is completely different from the stock Roctane tank so I'll be working on fabricating a custom mount.

I will be following the guide from the forum member who's previously done this before.

Where did you manage to score your tank? I'm on the hunt for front and rear fenders.

Found mine thru eBay from a part junk yard that's online called LKQ. Another one I found on eBay that has a ton of pulled off parts is SunCoastCycleSports.

I think you might find what your looking for here, best of luck.

Installed and tried out what some folks were recommending for the wind buffeting and I can say worked like a charm.

Definitely not pretty so going to look into tinting the fork wind deflectors to match the windshield.

It's coming out really nice, good job and choices!
I have kinda the opposite situation, owning a Classic and thinking about fitting Roctane hard bags for their locking system and easier cleaning :D
I don't find any problem touring without those legs shields, maybe they could help in winter. Why did you install them? When do you notice an advantage?

For what it’s worth. I get 42 mpg @ 85 mph and 50 mpg @ 70 mph. Both with no passenger.
I plan my stops at 160 mile intervals, usually turns out to be just before the fuel warning comes up.
So far no scares.
Always in Rock mode.
I figure I could have done 20 more since the refill was 3.5 gallons

It's been awhile since I've updated this:
1. I was able to install a set of Kraus pull back plates for a Harley alongside a set of risers from Drag Specialities.
2. I was able to install the BMW Cross Country seat from a classic model with little modifications and no issues on fitment or use.

For the plate and risers, I ended up needing to drill out the holes on the top triple tree to match the diameter of the Kraus pull back plate as well acquire bolts both for that as well as the risers. The risers were a straight forward install (the amount of lock tite from the factory is absolutely ridiculous when I went to remove the stock risers, broke multiple torx bits trying to get them off....)

As for the seat, all I needed to do was remove the stock support bracket underneath the seat and move the turn signals wires around to get the new seat to fit up nice! Afterwards I found out that the rider backrest from Saddlemen for their road sofa models fit right up to the BMW seat! The BMW backrest is horrible for adjustment, angle and how high it can go. The saddlemens is superior.

With these done, I'm looking to get the following next set of parts for in the future:
1. Polyurethane riser bushings to get rid of some of the vibrations from the handlebars.
2. Set of OEM driving lights and front turn signals from the classic model.
3. Find a way to move the gauge from the stock location to the risers like on the classic model (would need a circular plate or an additional gauge to leave in the stock location on the headlight.
4. Sole passenger grab rails to have a better point to tie down bags to.

The bigger 6 gallon tank swap is still in the works trying to figure out how to get the custom mounts made.

perhaps you could buy a classic headlight assembly and gauge so you don't have a hole in the headlight fairing of the roctane. it looks good and you've made the roctane into a distance bike.

I did consider it but I like the looks of the Roctane headlight housing too much to remove; remind me of a Road king!
