R18B / TC Audio Upgrade Packages

I'll try not to be too spammy, but since I'm pretty sure no one else offers audio upgrades for the R18's I wanted to post about it!

Motorrad Audio has released multiple packages for upgrading the Marshall system on the R18B and Transcontinental. Pricing and such can be found on our website at www.motorradaudio.com Just click the "search by bike" to narrow the options to your specific model.

Here's a video that gives a broad overview of the systems and covers what's involved in the installation. Let me know if you have any questions?

 
I understand that! Where there are hundreds of our packages in the field for the K1600's and R1250RT's, the R18 packages are brand new. The overall system in the bike is the same, and the speaker/amp packages are the same as the K as well.

We'll be at the MOA Rally in June if you want to make the short ride up to see/hear the system on our K. We can dial back the subwoofers on our bike to pretty well imitate the Marshall subs and give a good idea of what to expect out of an R18 package.

Mike, I am interested in knowing what subs you have on your K? Can you share the details??
 
The subs on the K1600 packages are from Audiofrog. They have a unique basket/magnet design that allows us to invert the speaker and take up VERY little space in the bags. Those are for the B and Grand America. For the GT/GTL we have a 10" subwoofer enclosure coming very soon that goes into the top case using a JL Audio 10" and amplifier.
 
Mike, will your pod go into my stock lower fairing or do I have to replace my lower fairing with yours? I wasn't quite sure based on the video.

We have the packages mainly designed as a complete package. We could definitely offer it where you modified your own pods and used them. It would save about $200 in parts/labor on our side.
 
Good morning Mike,

Do you have videos of the different levels of sound from stock to Stage 3 for the transcontinental? I am going to get a package, but I am trying to decide between Stage 1 and 2. I am not ready for the commitment nor installation of stage 3 .
 
Unfortunately no. It's VERY difficult to get sound differences to come across correctly with video recordings. The microphone self adjusts based on volume, I did a video of the K1600 upgrades and the audio will get louder when I'm 30ft away, which definitely isn't the case in real life.

Is there a big difference between stages 1 and 2? If I may go to stage 3.... does it make more sense to do stage 2??? So many decisions. I do wish there were samples to help decide.
 
If you were to go to Stage 3, you would definitely want Stage 2, so you'd already have the 4 channel amplifier.

We've never done a Stage 2 on a TC at this point, they've all gone fully to the Stage 3.
 
We've done tons of 4 speaker scenarios on the K1600's, same amp, same 4 speakers. That being said, me trying to put that into words that can translate to "describing it" is hard to do. Naturally Stage 1 makes the front speakers louder and more clean sounding, then Stage 2 does the same thing for the rears, then Stage 3 adds the lowers. Unfortunately me trying to describe that is all a matter of interpretation and what you consider to be loud vs. what I do, etc.

I can definitely say, due to major space constraints, a Stage 2 will be the loudest those 4 speakers are ever going to get. There's no better speaker that can physically fit into the pod and rear locations unless you start really hacking the rear up.

I wish we had someone close to you to listen to, but they've all been north of us, & Texas, California, etc. If you want to make a ride to VA, we can easily dial our K1600 subs down to match the TC and give you a real world example of what the Stage 2 would sound like
 
I am actually in Roanoke this week and will be back in a couple weeks. I know you guys are in Richmond. I may drive over the next time I am here I also have a location there.
How long would it take a novice to install the stage 2? Yes... I have a good knowledge of how to get the front off from the multiple installs of the Bike2PLay.
