R18 Transcontinental
Today, for the second time, I got this error message while riding: Spring strut adjustment faulty!

Back in mid-August, I saw this for the first time. I took the TC for a quick ride, and this error message came up before I was, say, 200 yards from home. I cleared the error, and it disappeared, and I thought that was the end of it. But I was wrong. Yesterday, just about one month later, it returned, but this time, the little yellow triangle was not going away even after clearing the message.

I have a 2022 R18 Transcontinental.

I have done an initial search on the form, but nothing came up in my search.

I will call my local dealer in the morning, but it would be beneficial if someone could give me a heads-up on what to expect.

I have a long weekend trip in just a couple of days.

Found your post when I was searching for the same fault that came up on my bike. Any insights to what needs to be done? Thanks in advance!

How'd the ride feel, did the bike feel like it was bottoming out; perhaps, did you have any extra luggage and such on the bike?

Definitely keep us all posted (Model B and TC owners); I went for a ride this past Sunday and the roads were pretty rough with potholes and such, but the bike's suspension felt good.

I imagine there's a pump that dynamically adjust the rear shock; I just haven't given it much thought or had come across it while working on the bike.

Again, keep us posted - this is a new error.

Did you adjust settings just before turning off the bike when putting it away or just prior to leaving for your ride, power washing, or?

Were both occasions similar circumstances, approximately "200 yards from home"?

Can you check the connector for the shock is seated and no obvious damage to wiring is present?

Under warranty I tend to let the shop make things better, but checking the easy things like battery terminals and other likely connectors are snug only takes a moment and can save wasting your time getting to the dealer.

🍿🍺

Happened to me, check all your connections under the seat. If any of those are loose or not fully seated it will throw the strut fault code.

Happened to me today, last time I did ride the bike was about 3-weeks ago and today after short ride this message came up. Called road side assistance and they came and told me that it's possible low charge on battery and when he was on site message didn't came back. So later on I did go 1hr ride and message came back 3 times and after every reset couple hundred metesr ride and message is back will call Motorrad service on Monday and get it booked in.

Hopefully you are still under warranty. I started getting the error sporadically, then more consistent. Rear shock replaced under warranty.

Last year I had the exact same message on my 1250 GS while travelling fully loaded during a hot summer day, riding mode and shock set on dynamic. Called the local shop and BMW USA, both agreed this is a wellknown issue, sensor gets overheated and sends this faulty message without actual malfunction. You already have the recommended solution which is to reboot the bike and if the message disappears you're good to go. It should be the same issue that you have experienced, so far I haven't got the message on my R18....

I started getting this message on my R18B. Did a fault scan and there are zero faults detected my the GS911. :-|

I had this recently on my TC, it would flash up then clear with no message
on the screen. The problem turned out to be the main 50amp fuse. The
spade ends had started to corrode & cause power issues. Fuse replaced
with a new one & contacts cleaned, there have been no further problems.
Since replacing the fuse (about four weeks ago now) I have been away for a long
weekend with my wife which included a very wet return ride of around 120 miles.
The bike is also my main transport to & from work.

That’s a possibility. I suspect it was something electrical like a weak battery. My fuse contacts don’t look great, so I cleaned them and shot some contact cleaner in the socket.

Mine looked similar & one of the connecters was easy to bend, I replaced the
fuse as I had a spare, & as a new one is only a couple of pounds I always carry
a spare just in case. I borrowed!! a small container from the kitchen to keep a
selection of the correct fuses in as the card & plastic packs fall apart fairly quickly.
